Thank you to Representative @david_biele for your leadership in supporting scientists and engineers developing transformative technologies of national interest, creating companies and jobs critical to both national and economic security. We are grateful for your support of the MA FOUNDERS initiative (Fostering Opportunities for Unleashing New Development in Entrepreneurship and Research-driven Solutions) funding @activatefellows working in sectors such as energy, transportation, and buildings through @MassCEC. As we approach the 250th anniversary of the United States, now is the time to support the next generation of cutting-edge technologies. Today, the U.S. is facing significant global competition, including from countries like China, which has made sectors such as clean energy a top national priority. Since 2015, Activate’s entrepreneurial fellowships have been proven to enable the translation of scientific research, creating nearly 200 companies and more than 3,000 jobs across the U.S. to date, collectively raising over $4 billion, representing a 50x return on Activate’s grant funding. In Massachusetts, we have enabled more than 40 companies and 450 jobs. And 96% of the fellow-led companies we’ve supported have continued growing, including ThermoBionics, based in South Boston, which is developing wearable cooling technologies for the 50 million Americans who work in hot environments without air conditioning, such as #construction workers and members of the #military. Representative Biele, as someone who put himself through college and law school working construction and the son of a Local 223 construction laborer, understands the importance of these technologies for America’s workforce. We are proud to work with #government partners who support continued investment in the technologies of tomorrow — and a better future for all.
