The ACTRA Toronto Creators' Corner is a community of Members who want to sharpen skills, create short films, foster features, share their abilities with others and work on other aspects of filmmaking such as scoring, editing, shooting, and producing. And we want to better understand how Members experience creating their own work and what role, if any, the union should play in supporting those efforts! Please take a moment to complete an anonymous survey by Wednesday, April 8th, 2026. It should take about 10 minutes to complete. Your responses will help guide how ACTRA Toronto approaches supporting members who are interested in developing their own projects, while respecting that not every member may choose to do so. Take the survey now: surveymonkey.com/r/P7FKS3W

We're thrilled to celebrate ACTRA Toronto production @CraveCanada HEATED RIVALRY, which won Outstanding New TV Series at the 37th GLAAD Media Awards! The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honour media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community and the issues that affect their lives. In his acceptance speech, executive producer, director and writer Jacob Tierney said: "Making queer art is hard. It’s hard to get it made. It’s hard to get it seen…we owe so much to the shows that come before us…those shows lay the groundwork for where we are….those shows allowed for the rest of us to live in a world here." Congratulations to the talented cast and creative team behind this wonderful show. Meet all the winners of the GLAAD Media Awards: glaad.org/mediaawards/37…

Statement from ACTRA Toronto: We acknowledge the letter circulated by the Entertainment Industry Coalition (EIC) on March 3, 2026, to signatory agents, ACTRA Toronto Council and on social media. ACTRA Toronto disagrees with many of the claims made by the EIC, which contains several misrepresentations and inaccuracies. The statement does not reflect the full history and background of the EIC and its relationship with ACTRA Toronto. It is disheartening that this statement was released today when the many performers harmed by Compass Artist Management co-founder Danny Friedman’s criminal wage theft were expecting closure through sentencing. Though that finality has been delayed yet again, our members continue to show resilience and resolve in their pursuit of justice. As their elected leadership and staff, we stand vigilant alongside them. To all of our members: Rest assured that ACTRA Toronto continues to support and advocate for performers and will be available to its membership with respect to any issues or enquires regarding agent representation. In the coming days, ACTRA Toronto will be providing a comprehensive response to the EIC statement.
