It took 6 months for my game to even rank on App Store searches For past 6 months it didn't even break the top 200 spots. Now it's appearing and slowly increasing. My strategy was simple: see what impact a viral launch has on app store rankings. I was disheartened to see no movement. But maybe there is a lag.

The most important part of ads is the creative I would suggest it’s harder than you think to one-shot a creative that pulls the numbers you quoted Trying a few different creatives by boosting the organic content is a good way to collect data about what creatives work It’s easy to post, easy to boost, and you get feedback instantly.
