@MrBoomBastic000 Depends on the character. Even if the dialogue is in character, some characters talk more than others. For example it wouldn’t make sense for a character like Whisper to have a lot of dialogue because she’s not much of a talker.

@adampixelrush Art is the main appeal for comics, but the dialogue is also there to supplement it. My argument is that no dialogue or lengthy dialogue doesn’t automatically make a story better. It’s about execution. If a Sonic comic has lengthy dialogue but it’s well written, is it still bad?

@MrBoomBastic000 I never said no dialogue was a trump card for good storytelling. I’m just saying that acting like comics need an abundance of dialogue to be good is a silly mindset when a big part of what makes comics stand out is the art.

@adampixelrush Also do you even read other comic books? I feel like you’re just making generalizations about the medium.

@Skyn246 But I will also say that Sonic wouldn’t waste time talking someone down when they’re clearly not interested in talking. Surge starts the fight, so Sonic would probably just finish the fight and then try to talk.

@Skyn246 I mean sure, the issues with the scene are a little more fundamental. You’d have to retool a lot of it to improve it. I’m just giving a general example.

@adampixelrush But then that’s out of character for Sonic to have him say nothing.

@Skyn246 Or you could even get rid of the inner monologue and just show flashbacks to Surge’s brainwashing as she’s tormented by images of Sonic, forced to always live in his shadow.

@Skyn246 I would say cut all of Sonic’s dialogue and just focus on Surge’s inner monologue as she looks up at him. Let her own misconceptions about Sonic fuel the story instead of writing Sonic inaccurately to keep the story going.

@adampixelrush *Currently up to issue #68 and loving it!* I feel the critique is that Twitter makes the argument that SONIC himself is wordy, not that the panel itself could be work shopped. The argument then becomes peoples personality to dictate how it should be consumed.

He's great, probably one of the best Eggman adaptations. And he said the funny pingas, so he's alright in my book.

I agree, that'd be really neat. I actually had an idea to do an animation about that but I never got around to it.

I'm gonna start a new thread of strawpage stuff and add to it over time. pixelrush.straw.page I can't really say when a new video will be out because they take time and I procrastinate hard, but I'm writing an essay on Frontiers and Silver and animating a QnA video.

Was prepared for a reply like this. I'll be brief We don't have to wonder what Sonic's identity is anymore In big 2025 we know: Ohshima's inspos were Disney and Miyazaki (fairytale glazers), Sonic is fairy-like, and the stories follow fairytale structure That's Sonic's identity

@BraviaGames The original scene is just riffing on old fairytale tropes, an antithesis to Sonic’s whole identity. It’s not deep. Also, you need to be more concise, because my eyes were glazing over a third of the way through this thread. It’s exhausting to present an argument this way.

@MelohRush It also doesn't make sense because they establish that he's an alien, so there's no real reason to make him realistic. Using a design closer to the games wouldn't make him any more or less alien.

"It would look weird" "its not realistic" Your saying this about the absolute freak of nature that is Sonic the hedgehog Every other character looks basically 1 to 1 with their game counterparts. Sonic just doesnt and I think that is a problem

@technohavok I mean…I’m from the west. And it’s not like I hated Casefiles, I just didn’t like it. There’s plenty of western Sonic stuff I like.

@adampixelrush At this point, avoid western Sonic media; it fails to deliver the consistency you demand. Plus, some of your vague complaints undermine your own serious goals, making them appear satirical.
