It's nice to see that tensor networks are growing beyond the initial setting of planar TNs with deterministic evaluations of observables, and they are instead converging more and more towards the standard stochastic Variational Monte Carlo framework. As a result, the distinction with neural networks is gradually fading out, albeit in practice it is still more advantageous to use NNs representations in d>1, or continuos space. The only missing step in this more general TN functions is using natural gradient descent/ SR to optimize them. Paper here, arxiv.org/pdf/2405.03797

I had the pleasure of participating in the spring school on near-term quantum computing. I gave a couple of lectures on the applications of neutral atom quantum processing units, from quantum simulation to optimization. All the material will soon be available online.
