I may sound naive or stupid and I am not unaware of how silly it may come off. But I am very convinced that true believing Christians will bring about the catalytic change to every facet of Nigeria’s brokenness. Again, I promise you, it’s not insanity. I’ve seen it, I know it.

I actually pray for my patients When the prognosis is bad, I pray their hearts to hope When it's end stage and terminal, I pray our conversations lead to light I have a group of Christian doctors where we deliberately meet to pray for patients especially bad cases Few months ago, we had a terrible case the best of hands didn't know the way forward and the patient had given up, ready to pull the plug. Following that rounds, I took some time in the call room to really pray for him so the Holy Spirit instructed I visit, so I stayed back after work in order to visit in the night That night I came into the ward, had some good gist that consentingly led to conversations around faith, hope and the person of Jesus and we basically held a full blown service. Right that night, it just appeared a new burst of hope and direction for everyone. Earlier this week, I saw him from a distance walk out of the outpatient department with his two legs and my heart was merry! I may not be able to go to church every time because of work but I understand that I am God's workmanship created for good works in the health sector and for me? I was called!

Most solutions produce little to no results because these issues are Political or institutional driven, The idea was solid, but the ecosystem wasn’t read for it.

@tife_olayinka @Aje_Dynamicz I thought of building something similar sometime ago and the most viable option was to connect caretakers to tenants. The connection between landlord and tenant carries a second priority because most landlord don't want to go through the hassle of managing things like this

Every fintech doesn't have to revolve or be about Finance 🤧 We desperately need an app that can connect Landlords to Tenants directly 🙂

@Zuronye Another reason i think majority of builders are not looking this route is because of the revenue model. It's not geared to retain users which drastically impacts the revenue.. It's unlike AirBnB which has a high turnover.. Except something like that could be incorporated.

Fintech apps are more profitable because of high turnover for transactions, even the most unpopular apps record millions in daily transactions. Tenancy in Nigeria on the other hand is a yearly affair, how do you keep the users interested in the app after the first transaction?

@ayzerobug I have been pondering on this for quite a number of years and the only issue i see here is the landlord reluctancy to come on board.. Verification really is the least of worries.. Landlord reluctancy is the major problem

The challenge with this idea is that, while tenants clearly need this solution, most landlords are largely indifferent. Their primary concern is simply receiving rent. As long as physical agents can deliver that regardless of the fees charged to tenants, it doesn’t really affect them. Even if we assume that isn’t a barrier, the next question is: how many landlords are actually willing to list their properties on the platform? And beyond that, there’s the issue of vetting. Who handles property verification? It’s not feasible to have people across the country managing this without proper incentives. Which ultimately brings us back to the core problem.

@samofolabi Thanks for this analysis... This is more reason why i have hesitated to do something similar... One needs to figure a way to truly either break the existing pattern or co exist while solving the exorbitant fee problem that tenant face.

I built a landlord–tenant rental app last year and it failed. Not because the idea was bad, but because the market reality is different. And honestly, there are already many apps trying to do the same thing. One major thing I’ve learned about Nigeria: Landlords prefer working with agents rather than dealing with tenants directly. Most agents don’t just find tenants, they manage the properties too. This is especially true for landlords living abroad who own rental property back home. That tells you something important: Agents in cities like Lagos, Ibadan, Osun State, and Abuja, based on my research and experience, are the heartbeat of real estate rentals. If you don’t build your product to carry them along, your app will likely fail. Finally, if you can also solve the data problem and build in strong default systems and property management tools, you’ll have a real chance at success.

The invisible Glass experiment Scientists once placed a transparent glass barrier inside an aquarium. On one side was a fierce pike, and on the other side were several smaller fish swimming freely. When the hungry pike saw the smaller fish, it immediately rushed forward to attack. Bang. It slammed straight into the glass and bounced back. Confused, the pike kept trying again and again, but every attempt ended the same way. The repeated collisions injured its head and knocked off some of its scales. Eventually, the pike became frightened and retreated to a corner of the tank. After some time, the scientists quietly removed the glass barrier. The smaller fish now swam freely throughout the aquarium, even brushing against the pike’s mouth. But the pike never tried to eat them again. Even though it was hungry, it refused to attack. In its mind, the invisible wall was still there. A few days later, the pike reportedly died of starvation, surrounded by food. This phenomenon is often referred to as the Pike Effect or Pike Syndrome. It’s often used as a metaphor for how repeated failure can create invisible limits in the mind.

The weird thing about reading so much as a child and gaining a huge vocabulary from that is I can't define a lot of the words I use, I just know that they would fit correctly in a specific sentence. Does anyone else experience that?
