Something that will always puzzle me with Hausa is that they speak an Afro Asiatic language while carry almost none Afro Asiatic related ancestry.
The genetic distance between Hausa and other West African Niger Congo populations is extremely weak.

@luxe_roots You know proxies doesn't show exact roots according to modern ethnic groups. Then we gotta consider that Songhay are the result of the mixing between Toubou and Jola while it isn't the case.

@vamosalasplayas The Toubou of Niger are West Africans since Niger is a West African country, now that the Toubou consider themselves Siberian, I don't care, I work with ethnolinguistic studies.
It is not up to you to decide the ethno-linguistic nature of the Songhai.
