Jan 18 – Apr 18 marks another 3 months of service, bringing it to 9 months in office as @UilStudentUnion Welfare Secretary, COHS with continued efforts to improve the welfare of students across key areas including transportation, academic support, health, power and water supply.

Your monthly salary is ₦180,000. You started feeling feverish and decided to see a doctor (which was a good call). But you carried your two left legs to a hospital that looks like a 5‑star hotel. And you don't even have health insurance. From reception, everywhere looks like heaven. But your brain didn't reset. You bought a card for ₦20,000 to see a GP, because you're a big boy. They admitted you to manage malaria. Now you're asking why they want ₦150,000 deposit for "ordinary malaria treatment"? Oga, go and pay the money. You think the AC, steady electricity, clean environment, and professional staff—from cleaners to receptionists to clinical team—are paid with "thank you, God bless you"? Many of you consciously put yourselves in situations that will reduce your life expectancy by 10 years. Seems like you've never heard of "cut your cloth according to your size," abi?

In Week 9 of 2026, Nigeria recorded sustained #LassaFever activity, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention. A Total 460 new suspected cases were reported, along with 65 new confirmed cases and 9 new confirmed deaths. Additionally, 7 states and 26 LGAs were affected. The year began with more good news on the transportation end. Academic tutorials continued and a press conference was held to hear directly from students and provide feedback to their immediate concerns as well as give an overview of what's to come. The struggle continues ✨

Budget sitting came and it was business as usual presenting plans and projects to the legislative arm though not so straightforward with more than 32 hours spent doing that. Couple of social events including hosting renowned artists and actor at the SUB and MPH respectively.

18th Oct - 18th Jan marked another 3 months in my tenure in office as @UilStudentUnion Welfare Secretary (COHS). The ending of October was marked by the convocation, before the orientation and 50th anniversary celebrations in Nov and then the matriculation and tests in Dec.

The 50th anniversary of the better by far University was proudly heralded by a Clean Up Fest which was organized by the @UilStudentUnion on Nov 22nd. Students across faculties united to make a meaningful impact. The goal was clear-to build a healthier, cleaner Unilorin for all.

The 50th anniversary celebrations began with a symbolic walk across the city of Ilorin. At every stop, the tune of the University’s anthem floated through the air, irresistible to the residents passing by, from the overhead bridge at Tanke to the Emir of Ilorin’s palace. 1/X
