@SMorrison_ Parents and players should be educated and prepared to handle all of these tasks. Aside from new places and multiple w2s, it’s called being an adult. Contract language should always be reviewed by legal counsel.

The MLB Draft has major flaws. It’s unsettling yet exciting all at the same time. Here is what we at Moment are doing for our newly drafted players four days post draft. This week alone I have worked with our draft class on: - Locating housing for residency purposes - Identifying vehicles as their reward purchase - Shopping proper insurance policies on both of the above - Making sure team payroll has the correct direct deposit instructions - Coordinating with agents on contract language and bonus split payouts so that we are all aligned People reach out to me all the time and say they want to work with athletes. I would urge them not to unless they know what the job entails. The job? Doing anything and everything to make our clients feel comfortable with becoming a pro. And nothing to do with anything on the field. It’s everything money touches. Everything that an 18-21 year old has no idea about.

Guardians 8th rounder Matt Scott was one of my favorite picks of their draft. A towering 6-ft-7, 241 lb RHP, Scott was a T-200 draft prospect in 2025 before transferring to Georgia. There he tweaked what was needed to post a 29.1% K% and .214 BAA.
