Been to the doctor a lot lately (I’m okay) and I talked to him about this. In asked why health care costs were so high. He said doing a procedure costs let’s say in the example $5. Being forced to go through insurance companies who won’t pay $5 but may pay $1 forces them to raise the price to $20 to get the insurance company to maybe pay $3. If you want to pay cash it’s a great discount, now down to $10. Why, to compensate for the loss on the insurance price. I then asked about government requirements and administration costs. He said they were HUGE, and that these were costs in both time and money that are not able to be recouped. A net loss. Then there is the rise in malpractice insurance and lawyers because while medicine is advanced, it is not perfect. Things go wrong. So, insurance, government regulations and lawsuits are why healthcare is out of control. Get government out of healthcare, reduce regulations, use health insurance like car insurance, only for catastrophic coverage, and reform tort laws. We just fixed the healthcare system.
