A tragic incident in which a husband allegedly strangled his wife to death for opposing his second marriage has come to light in #PandarahalliCamp of #Bhadravati taluk, #Shivamogga district. The murder took place inside their home on January 11, but the case surfaced only after a delay. During the investigation by #HolehonnurPolice, the accused, Gopi, was apprehended and has now been arrested. The deceased, Chandanabai, belonged to the Lambani community from #DBHalli village, while Gopi belonged to the Bovi community of Pandarahalli. Despite belonging to different castes, the two were in love and had eloped and married. After remaining in hiding for some time, they later returned to their village and began living as a family. Their love marriage resulted in two sons. In the meantime, Gopi reportedly fell in love with another young woman and began planning to marry her. However, his wife Chandanabai strongly opposed this second marriage. Enraged by her opposition, Gopi allegedly strangled her to death inside their house. After committing the murder, the accused reportedly staged a drama to make it appear as though he had no connection to the crime. However, during the investigation, Holehonnur police uncovered the truth and exposed his role in the murder. The police have since arrested Gopi. As a result of Gopi’s obsessive and cruel actions in the name of love, the couple’s two young sons have now been left orphaned.
