The loss of lives due to a fire mishap in Delhi’s Shahdara district is extremely distressing. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each of those who lost their lives. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi

#WATCH | North 24 Parganas, West Bengal: Violent clash broke out between TMC and BJP workers at Booth Number 120, Arabinda Rally in North 24 Parganas as voting for the second and last phase of West Bengal elections is over. (Note: Strong language)

Goals are fun to watch, but defending is an equally important part of football. This semi final is not a top quality game, entertaining as it may be.

For the last three years, I’ve taught a comparative constitutional law course without a single SCOTUS judgment, by design. Cannot explain how refreshing it is to not be subjected to nine partisan hacks reverse-engineering party political preferences and pretending it’s law.

What is the point of this? If the Congress wants to resort to the same tactics as its principal rival party, then why should people not vote for the party that has already aced in such cruel methods? Highly objectionable @INCIndia @revanth_anumula!

Phase 1 of the West Bengal Assembly elections takes place today. I urge all citizens to participate in this festival of democracy with full strength. I especially appeal to my young friends and to the women of West Bengal to vote in large numbers.

Unfortunately, Justice Abhay Oka forgot about this event he attended. Several lawyers have been pointing out this to discredit him. However, I am told that he had attended this event because his own Bar Association—AAWI, the oldest one in India, had invited him for this. This Bar Association had passed a resolution against corrupt judges in 1991 and Justice Oka held it in great regard. He had genuinely forgotten about this, I am told. It was in the days of the lockdown. In any case, no one needs to argue about Justice Oka’s integrity, truthfulness, his unimpeachable conduct and character. He is one of the rare gems from the Bench who walks the talk and very few have been able to match his high standards as a judge in today’s time. I am sure he must have received several invites from the Adhivyakta Parishad during his time at the Supreme Court which he turned down, for the same reasons he stated during the recent interview.
