Of 4 million slaves in America in 1860, fewer than 10—not 10%, the number 10—were owned by Republicans. More than 90% of the slaves were owned by Democrats. This crushing fact is left out of the textbooks, unreported by NPR, PBS & the History Channel. Yet it’s undeniably true.

The problem here as I see it is context: For the times, which were brutal, Genghis was, relatively, a good guy. He made kidnapping and enslaving people a crime. He made possessing another person's property a crime. He invented paper money so that traders on the silk road could be free of the criminals that routinely robbed them. etc.,etc. Successful species have always made life difficult for less successful species. Humankind is not unique in that respect. As for innovation: Again, many civilizations were remarkably innovative but to compare ancients with innovators today is comparing apples to spaghetti. Public education often fails to examine context and thus misleads students.

Your ability to invent facts is remarkable. No one "bombed their storage tanks". In fact, when the Kharg Island military installations were destroyed, the oil facilities were carefully left untouched. The truth is the Iranians cannot shut down their oil wells without permanently damaging them. They have filled all of their available storage and are between a rock and a hard spot. People like you are their only hope to continue their stubborn refusal to capitulate.

@EricLDaugh iran did it? seriously? How retarded are you. "Someone" bombed all their storage tanks and now you are complaining that oil is leaking from the destroyed infrastructure into the ocean? Get fucked, Israel and USA caused it. Not Iran.

🚨 HOLY CRAP! Iran is being slammed for causing an environmental DISASTER by frantically dumping their oil near Kharg Island, because the storage is filling up Tens of thousands of barrels spilled, and it's now piling up along the Persian Gulf coastline! Where is the left denouncing this? This is going to have horrific impacts on the ecosystem TRUMP UN AMBASSADOR MIKE WALTZ: "Iran is now attacking the environment in addition to civilian targets, humanitarian aid and civilian shipping." h/t @TheIranWatcher

I didn't comment on the brutality because brutality was the common operating methodology of the time. Temujin was no more brutal than his opposing contemporaries. For example, he executed convicted nobles by wrapping them in carpets and having horsemen ride back and forth over them until they were dead. In doing so, he assured their blood would not reach the ground - preventing what would be an insult in his time. Temujin gave neighboring communities the opportunity to join his way of living: No kidnapping, slavery, stealing, etc. but allowed them to retain their existing government, religion, etc. When they demonstrated an unwillingness to follow the rules of his empire, he simply eliminated them. Brutally? Yes - he killed everyone, leveled their community and rendered their farms and livestock unusable. He recognized the futility of having enemies at his border capable of raiding and plundering his people. That that strategy caused his "empire" to be ever growing was almost coincidental.

@ady_roger @data_republican You cite examples of innovation, rule of law and important historical context (all important factors) but I believe you’ve understated the utter brutality. The pillaging, raping, murder and razing of entire places to the ground sort of dampens placing a “good guy” label on Khan.

Helping my grandson as he finishes up 6th grade on-line public school (soon to transfer to private school). I realized I'm not smarter than a 6th grader. For example, here are some things that I learned: 1) Genghis Kahn was actually a good guy. 2) The ever increasing human population is the cause of all the species that are threatened or endangered. 3) Western civilization was not nearly as innovative as ancient China.

They arrested the President of the United States of America 4X, charged him 91X, indicted him 4X, spied on his campaign, sabotaged his first term, jailed his supporters, raided his private residence, censored him, gagged him, tried to bankrupt him, and attempted to remove him from state ballots. When all of that failed they tried to assassinate him not once but four times. And they go on national television to talk about how we need to vote for them to save democracy.

We were there front and center. That venue wasn’t built to accommodate an event with the line of succession for the U.S. government. After witnessing last night, drop the TDS and build the White House ballroom for events exactly like these.
