Though short Par-4s aren’t new, with Golden Age courses such as Cypress Point Club, Riviera Country Club, and The Ridgewood Country Club all featuring risk-reward Par-4s, they have certainly become more common—almost a given—on modern designs.

Its defining features include a seven-foot-deep front bunker, a 20-foot-deep swale left of the green, a six-foot-deep swale in the green, and a 72-yard green complex that allows the hole to play anywhere from 170 to 240 yards.

Sister hole to Blue 7, Red 16, designed by @coorecrenshaw , plays over the same river to a Biarritz green.

Yale GC...this Macdonald & Raynor gem is set to reopen following its restoration by Gil Hanse. Having played over 200 rounds at Yale, it holds a special place in my heart. I had the opportunity to capture some photographs last fall & look forward to shooting it again this spring.
