@BoothCricket Mind blowing that a non striker is the first port of call when a supposed elite umpire missed it in the first place

@pieman80 @gradecricketer In Aust mate. That's whole context. They're weak in Australia
English

@gradecricketer England came back from 2-0 down in the ashes in 2023. would of won 3-2 if not for two days of rain slat Manchester
Surly that’s backbone? Ffs Aussie arrogance is the worst

@Madelaine_Burke @DaleKerr Let us know when he's being literal and when he's not then. Wouldn't be like him to nitpick other people's quotes would it? ha

3AW's Tom Elliott responds to #NupToTheCup protestors at Flemington: "Every day we kills thousands of cattle and sheep and pigs. If you're going to protest against animals dying... surely you'd go and stand in front of an abattoir every day of the week"
It’s always interesting to see people suddenly speaking out against the cruelty of horse racing on Melbourne Cup Day.
What I struggle with, though, is that the same compassion often doesn’t extend beyond the Melbourne Cup. The same people who call veganism “extreme” are suddenly vocal about animal suffering when it’s convenient or trending...or maybe just because horses are better looking than pigs and cows?
If you care about animals being exploited for entertainment, it’s worth asking where else that same logic might apply, because cruelty isn’t just a once-a-year issue.

@stuarthelmer @brydoncoverdale Well that's the point isn't it. He got VERY huffy about it. So did Brook, Duckett etc. Mocked them, chided them. He was fine to offer a draw. They were equally fine to decline it. He should get on with it and yes choose whatever bowler he wants.
English

@brydoncoverdale I'm not necessarily saying that Stokes was right to get huffy about it. But, as I've said, playing for averages and personal milestones is always regarded as a bit off, and there's nothing unusual in Stokes taking it as such.

@BomberMick @ScooterMcNeice No Durham so far from full strength as he changes everything
English

@ScooterMcNeice We're a rebuilding and very young side, but it's very concerning that this is our full strength midfield. It doesn't stack up against any of the better teams.
English

@JakeNiallTHEAGE @GeelongCats @HawthornFC @AFL Nash intentional til the cows come home. That's what we need red cards for. Scrimshaw on Ridley same. How many roundarms/cheap shots do you want to see?
English

A messy masterpiece: @GeelongCats & @HawthornFC produced the @AFL highest level blockbuster, with heroes & villains & swings of momentum, & even blunders were exciting. It’s up to other blockbuster clubs eg Carl, Coll, Ess to match this. #AFLHawksCats theage.com.au/sport/afl/a-me…
English

@ScooterMcNeice They were great around the ball all night but it felt to me like most of those 1.9 he refers to were highly speculative shots from the boundary or under pressure or both
English

@VinceRugari Remember walking past a group of blokes after a St K game yrs ago singing, to the tune of 'Celebration', 'Daaaryl Wakelin time cmon, do do do do-do do-do'. Remember thinking that u don't hear that at AFL. Gone to 10+ games a yr for 35yrs so it says something that it sticks out

Kohli’s final innings in Australia, in all probability.
Finishes with 1542 runs at 48 with seven centuries in this country. #AUSvIND

English

@danbrettig 'Cummins, undeniably, knows his men and their capabilities' - Well said. Great point about defensive techniques too. Hence the 'late' declaration that all (incl you) doubted (some mocked). 2nd only to WC Final for Pat going against the grain and prevailing
English

On people’s Monday at the people’s ground, at the end of the best-attended MCG Test of all time, the loudest roars were all for Australia. Pat Cummins' men turned a great occasion into a great Test match #AUSvIND theage.com.au/sport/cricket/…
English

ANALYSIS: It took every last sinew of energy and self-belief, but Australia battled its way to a sorely needed victory over India in an MCG Test that will be forever remembered for its theatre, skill and controversy.

@PeterGHanlon @agerealfooty Great piece.
Did Penshurst win?

At least we gave Essendon fans their most joy in 2 decades last night.
They wonder why they’ve been dogshit since I was in primary school

So sad the Howks lost by less than a goal when they should have been 3-4 down without the umps assistance in the first half. What a great weekend it will be now. Footy gods!! See you in Bali JackG and SamM! I’ll buy you two a beer 👍 #pullyourheadsinfellasl

@JakeNiallTHEAGE @PAFC @HawthornFC @AFL You’re dismissive of Ginn writing off the game as already won and putting it down to social media use rather than what was actually said. As for mocking the motivation, watch The Last Dance and Hodge/Silk understood it completely post-match (when Hodge wasn’t sucking 🍋)
English

Analysis: Old school v Hokball: what was behind @PAFC Ken Hinkley’s graceless attack on @HawthornFC gadfly Ginnivan, after a thrilling final, what did Hawks think post-game, where Hinkley erred & likely outcome from @AFL probe. theage.com.au/sport/afl/old-…
