Ia beroperasi di dalam sistem sosial yang sudah timpang: timpang dalam literasi, timpang dalam akses ke keadilan, dan timpang dalam posisi tawar. Ketika tanggung jawab sepenuhnya dilempar ke “pengguna”, asumsi yang digunakan adalah bahwa semua orang memiliki kapasitas yang sama untuk memahami risiko, melawan balik, dan mencari perlindungan. Faktanya, tidak demikian. Kelompok paling terdampak (perempuan, anak-anak, dan lansia) sering kali tidak memahami bagaimana sistem bekerja, tidak tahu ke mana harus melapor, tidak memiliki sumber daya hukum, dan tidak punya energi untuk menghadapi proses panjang yang melelahkan. Akuntabilitas pun menjadi kabur karena tersebar di antara pengguna, platform, dan pembuat kebijakan, hingga akhirnya tidak ada pihak yang benar-benar bertanggung jawab. Inilah yang jarang dibicarakan secara terbuka di ruang publik: meski membawa banyak manfaat, AI juga memperbesar ketimpangan kekuasaan yang sudah ada. Mereka yang memahami sistem—cara kerja, celah hukum, dan batas tanggung jawab—berada di posisi relatif aman. Mereka yang tidak, justru menanggung risiko terbesar. Karena itu, AI tidak bisa dipandang hanya sebagai isu inovasi atau efisiensi. AI adalah soal siapa yang terlindungi, dan siapa yang dibiarkan sendirian ketika kekerasan terjadi. Dalam konteks ini, AI literacy dibutuhkan bukan sekadar mengajarkan kemampuan teknis menggunakan tools atau menulis prompt. AI literacy adalah mekanisme perlindungan sosial. Ia menentukan apakah seseorang mampu memahami bahwa apa yang dialaminya adalah pelanggaran, bukan “risiko biasa” -- dan mengetahui opsi yang tersedia, meski terbatas, untuk mencari pertolongan. Tanpa literasi ini, korban sering kali menyalahkan diri sendiri. Atau lebih buruk, menganggap kekerasan digital sebagai sesuatu yang harus diterima. Selama kelompok paling rentan belum serius dilindungi, AI akan terus menguntungkan mereka yang sudah kuat dan berbahaya bagi mereka yang sejak awal berada di posisi paling lemah. Itulah mengapa peringatan ini perlu terus diulang (saya juga sampaikan di berbagai forum lokal, internasional, dan kepada pemerintah melalui Menteri Komdigi) bahwa: Tanpa literasi dan perlindungan yang memadai, kemajuan teknologi tidak pernah netral. Ia akan menguatkan yang sudah kuat, dan melemahkan yang sudah lemah. Tugas pemerintah bukan hanya mendorong edukasi AI literacy, tetapi juga memastikan kebijakan publik yang berpihak nyata pada kelompok paling rentan.

The same hand I use to hold my lens, to frame each shot and to tell the stories I love. The doctors told me to rest for three months. Being forced to step away from what I love has been painful, especially when I still hear the words someone once said to me, that I was one of the worst wildlife photographers in Malaysia. This has been one of the hardest chapters of my life. But I am still here, holding onto hope that healing will come, and that one day I will return to the wild with my camera in hand. Until then, your thoughts, your prayers, and your kindness mean more to me than I can ever put into words.
