@einfach1liberal @peuimpo96833179 I once bought a really special watch at a yard sale for 400$, I thought Id sell it for 1500$ after a service, turns out I got 20k for it, the guy was really nice so I dropped 5k in his mailbox lol
English

@aesthetk_ @peuimpo96833179 It’s also different if it’s an old lady on a flea market or an Eastern European dealer I would say
English

@peuimpo96833179 @einfach1liberal From the moment you sell something, everyone assumes you made your research, I went in a pawn shop, I asked for a price, and paid more than double. The rest is on them and I have 0 care for their feelings honestly, it’s not like it’s a honest business.
English

@aesthetk_ @einfach1liberal It’s a trial, as an expert you should tell them the real value of the stuff they bring.
Imagine this happening to your loved ones.
English

@ikekold That’s why we have acid test too, but my xrf can read through gold filled items up to 20 microns, and 50 microns gold filled items are super rare nowadays (exclusively pocket watches). We wouldnt invest millions into gold scraps without some type of legit-check beforehand dw
English

@aesthetk_ xrf machines can be tricked by gold plating depending how thick it is they can only read a few "microns" deep be careful out there
English

@ELhajjHagop11 30 grammes après le mouvement/cadran/cercle d’emboitage/verre (j’avoue j’ai exagéré mdrr)
Français

Y’a à peine 20 grammes d’or qd tu démontes toute la machine mdrrrr

50 bucks for 60gr of 14k gold sounded like a great deal ngl
Français

@einfach1liberal Good choice, it’s better to just keep it moving honestly, many other great deals to take care of out there
English

@aesthetk_ I just don’t have the workshop for something like that atm. I think I’ll just sell it a bit cheaper and let the next person deal with it haha
English

@einfach1liberal Tbh Id juste make a link myself, it’s basically a big gold chunk with holes in it and a simple finish, it would look exactly the same and be certainly cheaper but if it’s for me I don’t care
English

@aesthetk_ Yeah I have it on offer for 32k… melt would have been around 15. Getting extra links for these is a bitch and it is a bit short
English

@einfach1liberal If I remember it correctly it was watch only but it was when I started so I wouldnt own the box anyways, now I buy my own scrap or items but I didnt get a rolex to melt recently now it’s more worth it to get it fixed and refinished for most cases
English

@aesthetk_ You still got a box from the ones you melted? 👀im in the market haha
English

@einfach1liberal They don’t actually wear good, they look nice but the links of the bracelet are too big and heavy so it’s terrible for everyday wear, but Id rather sell them 10x the gold value 😅
English

@aesthetk_ This is the craziest one I pulled put of melt recently. 10 years ago it would have been melted already at current gold prices.

English

@einfach1liberal Years ago we would melt Cartier, Piaget, Rolex and more, now they are super hard to find and people suddenly want them, so maybe this Longines will find a buyer someday, but Id rather reinvest the scrap money into something more liquid
English
