@StickManSHungry Nah the character of jo consistently drags down the quality of ws. If I were the author, I’d have eliminated jo & his family back in s1 to give ian and tj the spotlight they deserve as the core of the story. Their character potential is elite, but doyak keeps forcing jo's-

if you’ve heard about about the harassment the manga creator of nakamura has faced to the point of deleting their twt acc, i hope you can also help bring attention to the ongoing attacks doyak (author of wet sand) has been facing from a subset of bl readers for the past 3-4 weeks after completing her story. certain readers have participated in sending her death threats, attempting a review bomb campaign on ridi, doxxing her, and are now spreading puritan ideology in order to morally police her story, one that has always explicitly stated that it’s a noir bl involving gangsters + three characters who end up doing dark things. many of the said readers who are spreading these puritan ideologies have started and continued to read wet sand for the past few years knowing this as well and are only doing this out of spite for not getting the eg they preferred it got so bad a few weeks ago that the harassment was reported on by a large manga news account (@/mangasbrasil) and in result, the same readers went out of their way to attack the journalist of that account too while ik that many steered clear of this story and its fandom due to the toxic environment fans have cultivated over the years, i still think readers should help stop others from normalizing this parasocial activity with creators, esp after the conversations had just recently about the damage moral policing can have on the bl community in the long run it’s a terrible message being spread that if creators’ stories don’t align with the tastes of readers whose ideologies aren’t universal, readers have the “right” to attack them/push for censorship instead of just finding stories they do enjoy

For tj, his authority was never a prize, it was a psychological cage. Loving tj does not mean justifying his crimes, but rather acknowledging the humanity that has been shattered under the crushing weight of his responsibilities.

To 🧿 who say tj hasnt suffered& faced any consequences😑 tj’s punishment isnt a prison, for he has already lived in a prison of his own making for 20 yrs. His true sentence is the absolute loss of time&peace. He has paid for every second of his power w/ chronic, gnawing anxiety.

The appeal lies not in his illegal actions, but in his vulnerability & the raw realism of his suffering

The fact tj suffers from a total absence of plot armor. He does not win by being a mobster, in fact, he must dismantle his criminal identity entirely just to win as a human being. This is why accusing tj stans of romanticizing his character is a logical fallacy.
