INFORMATION ON SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT THIS MORNING 🚌 Dear Cicero District 99 Families, At approximately 8:08 a.m. today, District school bus #18 was struck by a four-door sedan at the intersection of 19th Street and 57th Court. The driver of the sedan fled the scene. School bus #18 was transporting a total of five students and two District staff members to their final stop at the Early Childhood Center. Immediately following the accident, Cicero Fire Department paramedics examined the students and staff, and everyone was cleared. Parents of all students involved were immediately notified about the accident, and shortly after, the students and staff were transferred to another District school bus to continue their route to the Early Childhood Center. Staff and students that have since developed symptoms from the accident have been taken to the hospital out of an abundance of precaution, while some students were picked up by their parents for the day and others remained at school. Yesterday, students were charged with felonies for "trespassing" on their own campus. Today, disturbing details emerge about the Detroit Police illegally surveilling and stalking civil rights and Palestinian activists. You can’t "defend democracy" by shredding the Constitution.

Cicero District 99 Families, This morning, a concern was brought to the attention of school administrators at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School regarding an individual posting and sharing threatening messages on social media, warning of actions that could cause serious danger. District 99 and school officials have been working in conjunction with the Cicero Police Department to investigate this issue, and the individual responsible has been identified. At this time, all school buildings are safe, and no students or staff are in danger. The District would like to thank the community members who brought this concern forward. If your child has any concerns, or if you come across any troubling information, please report it immediately to school authorities or local law enforcement. We also encourage you to discuss with your children the importance of reporting any suspicious behavior. Working together is essential to maintain a safe school environment.
