I’m looking to cite more Black scholars who work on water…connection to water, water infrastructure, aquatic history and recreation, etc. I’ve come across lots of op-eds but also need some peer reviewed scholarship. I have Dawson Undercurrents and Gumbs Undrowned already.

All the remains need to be returned to descendants or descendant communities. #FindingCeremony #UncollectOurAncestors

@aflewellen I work on Hadrian's Wall, which has a number of appearances in historical fiction and has been reimagined in fantasy, like Game of Thrones, as well as poetry, and many historical accounts of travel writing.

Calling all archaeologists: I’d like to put together a class tying archaeological sites to literary imagination, fiction, and poetry specifically. What are some of the books you turn to that contextualize your work?

@aflewellen One of my favorites I use in class to connect land-based storytelling & Black placemaking to explain how art (specifically quilt making) can be an expression of heritage, love, and collective memory —-bell hooks A Culture of Place (and I have slides I can share on this topic) 😉

@aflewellen I also wanted you to know that there’s a collective of poets down here in Greenwood thinking along the same lines and they just put out a call for poetry grounded by different ways of knowing including archaeology 🥰 connected by roadways
