After speaking with Nigerians in Cape Town yesterday, I was able to have meaningful discussions this morning with three South African ministers and political party leaders regarding the ongoing challenges related to immigration, regional collaboration, and fostering peaceful coexistence between our nations.
I had the pleasure of meeting with Mr Leon Schreiber, the South African Minister of Home Affairs and a prominent figure in the Democratic Alliance; Mr Velenkosini Hlabisa, the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs and leader of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP); and Mr Gayton McKenzie, the Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture and leader of the Patriotic Alliance (PA).
Our conversations were productive and candid, focusing on the current challenges that affect both countries—particularly those related to migration, economic strains, youth unemployment, security issues, and the rising tensions faced by African foreigners in South Africa.
I firmly believe that Nigeria and South Africa, both prominent African nations, must enhance dialogue, bolster cooperation, and seek solutions based on justice, mutual respect, and adherence to the rule of law. In challenging times, leaders and citizens alike need to demonstrate responsible leadership, compassion, and restraint.
We collectively stressed the importance of law-abiding behaviour, avoiding violence, resisting hate or provocation, and allowing lawful institutions to address grievances through democratic and constitutional processes, regardless of the challenges we face.
The progress of Africa hinges on our ability to create unity, foster economic inclusivity, invest in our communities, and uphold the dignity of every African, no matter where they live. -PO

Kayode Fayemi started with President Tinubu during the NADECO days. Tinubu brought him into Ekiti State politics from the UK and supported his elections heavily, with Lagos State resources. After Fayemi initially lost, Tinubu meet with Justice Ayo Salami where something were exchanged in between hands so the judgment could favour Fayemi. The ruling was later delivered at the Court of Appeal, Ilorin where Fayemi was declared the winner of Ekiti State 2007 Governorship elections.
Fayemi remains one of Tinubu’s most loyal allies to the core and should never be giving a chance, even to meet with leader of NDC.

TINUBU'S NEW POLICY FOR UNIVERSITIES WILL MAKE THEM TO WAKE UP AND THINK LIKE A BUSINESS.
Tinubu Government Directs Universities to Fund Lecturers’ Allowances Internally — Nigerians Fear Tuition Hikes.
But There’s a Bigger Economic Picture.
The Federal Government has now directed public universities to begin paying the new Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA) for lecturers.
Using internally generated revenue while waiting for full budget implementation.
Many students are already panicking about possible tuition increases.
And honestly, their fears are understandable.
The allowance is massive:
• Graduate Assistants — over ₦1 million yearly.
• Senior lecturers and professors — over ₦3 million yearly.
• Tax-free funding for research, books, software, journals, conferences, and fieldwork.
But here is the main koko...
For decades, Nigerian universities depended almost entirely on Abuja allocations while operating like non-business entities.
You know I am an advocate of government thinking like a business?
Tinubu is doing the right thing.
The world changed.
Today:
• American universities make billions from patents, sports, research grants, technology, alumni donations, and international students.
• Chinese universities are directly linked to manufacturing and industrial growth.
• Singapore transformed universities into innovation centers feeding the economy.
• South Korea tied universities to national technology development.
Nigeria cannot continue funding 21st-century education with a 1970s economic structure.
This policy may look harsh now, but the Tinubu administration appears to be pushing universities toward economic productivity instead of total federal dependence.
Universities sit on thousands of hectares of land, research talent, intellectual property, consultancies, agricultural projects, technology hubs, medical services, and business opportunities — yet many generate very little revenue.
The government’s argument is simple:
“If lecturers are to receive globally competitive research and academic support allowances, institutions themselves must begin creating value.”
That's simple.
Painful?
Yes.
Risky?
Yes.
But economically, this is part of a wider reform agenda shifting Nigeria from a consumption economy to a productivity economy.
The danger, however, is this:
If university management simply transfers the burden to poor students through endless “sundry charges,” then the policy could worsen inequality and reduce access to education.
That is where leadership matters.
Universities must now become innovative:
• commercialize research
• partner industries
• attract private endowments
• monetize innovations
• expand professional programs
• improve agricultural and technology ventures
• reduce corruption and waste
A university should not only produce job seekers.
A university should become an economic engine.
This is how China built industrial power.
This is how America dominates technology.
This is how Asian nations used education to create wealth.
Nigeria is now entering that difficult transition stage where institutions are being forced to survive beyond federal oil money.
The real question is:
Will Nigerian universities reform and innovate
Or simply increase school fees and punish students?

Below are the names and ages of the innocent students that were kidnapped in Oyo state by Fulani terrorists. 💔💔💔😭😭😭😭
For those who don't know, the youngest among them is a two year old girl who doesn't know her left from right outside eating biscuit and licking sweet.
The only crime these kids committed was being born in Nigeria, a country with irresponsible leaders.
These students were Kidnapped with only their uniform on them, and had been subjected to cold and mosquito bites deep in the forest for some days now. As i type this post, majority of these kids are currently sick, traumatized, hungry and suffering. They all witnessed the beheading of their beloved teacher, and some of these abducted teachers are currently being subjected to daily torture by these kidnappers.
In a sane country, all political activities currently ongoing in the country should have been put on hold until these kids are rescued, treated, and reunited with their families. But such can never happen in Nigeria. Not under the watch of Tinubu and his APC government. These kids are sick, starving, suffering and dying, yet everywhere is quiet as if nothing is happening. Some of them are siblings that are supposed to look out for each other, but they are all at the mercy of gun wilding heartless kidnappers. What will be going on currently in the mind of 4 year old Soliu Salami, when he sees 3 year old Sikiru Salami crying. What will be going on in the mind of 9 year old Tosin Abadi, when 5 year old Elizabeth will be crying for food. How can Mary Gabriel and Jacob Gabriel look out for one another in captivity? We are busy playing politics when the pride of our nation are languishing in kidnappers den. I weep for this country as my heart is totally shattered 💔💔😭😭😭😭
Tag every government handle you know on twitter to this post, tag every celebrity you know to this post, tag every influencer you know to this post. This is not the time for politics.
The lives of innocent kids are about to be wasted to hunger, starvation, sickness, cold and mosquitos in captivity.
As for the government, now is not the time for your useless promises of bringing perpetrators to book. We need action, and we need action fast.
These heartless monsters need to be apprehended and summarily executed in public. They deserve no trial or perdon. They are pure illustration of evil.
Note; That video making the rounds on social media of some blind folded person's on school uniforms being tortured, are not that of the Oyo state kidnaped students. Kindly disregard as fake news. The students are still in captivity, as some of them are currently sick, but they are not being tortured.

Our Children Deserve Enhanced Learning Environments.
Today, May 21st, I had the opportunity to visit Practising Primary School in Agulu, my hometown, which has been a cornerstone of education since its establishment in 1922. Unfortunately, the school suffered significant damage from a fire last year, resulting in the loss of a historical building that had educated generations.
During a previous visit, I committed to supporting the school's reconstruction and to helping create a modern, supportive environment for the students.
This morning, I was pleased to return and deliver an initial amount of 10 million Naira to help initiate the rebuilding process. Education is a crucial investment for any community, and restoring schools is essential for renewing hope and ensuring a brighter future.
I also took the time to engage with the students, encouraging them to take their education seriously. Their future will be shaped by the discipline, effort, and dedication they demonstrate today.
A New Nigeria is POssible. -PO
