Lol Africans been recording time and events. The Benin Bronzes were not just some sort of random art , to captivate one's attention but were used as a recording device to explain the stories of what was going on in the Benin Empire , especially by the priests and Oligarchs.

@damilol90092229 Many of Yoruba recorded history was made in narrative iconography, which is a valid way of recording history. Also used by the Edo.

Nok sculpture on the left (195 BCE – 205 AD) and Ife (12th Century) sculpture on the right. Both of Nigerian origins 🇳🇬. What I find intriguing is the similar neck collar along with the near identical cylindrical beaded strings , seen on both figures.

It's been proven that Oduduwa is actually a Benin man, and a lot of the artifacts found in Ile-Ife were crafted by Benin people. The gods we worship, like Ogun, Osun, Olokun, Shango, Oduduwa, Oranmiyan, and others, all have their roots in the Benin Empire.

Benin 19th century Mud Fish Vessel In Edo cosmology, the mudfish is regarded as a potent emblem of power and royalty. Its unique ability to thrive both on land and in water elevates it as a revered royal symbol, embodying the union of the terrestrial & the celestials→Divinity.
