**LONG CRITIQUE AHEAD** I think IDW has reached peak cringe. Instead of being known for its comics, it's increasingly becoming known for online drama and for how poorly some of its staff interacts with fans. At first, I thought this immaturity was limited to a few employees, like Gigi, who has gone so far as to criticize her own employer, Sega, and make controversial comments about Sonic and Shadow being gay and trans for no good reason. But seeing so many people being blocked by their corporate social media account simply because they're considered "wrongthinkers" makes me think they have no interest in improving their sales or creating a more positive and welcoming environment for potential customers. Corporate accounts are supposed to be neutral because their goal is to promote the brand and appeal to as many customers as possible, but they seem more focused on policing opinions and pushing their own personal agendas than on building goodwill with their audience. Most companies expect employees who publicly represent the brand to act as ambassadors by projecting a professional, welcoming image. If IDW has those kinds of standards, they don't seem to be enforcing them, and the result is a constant stream of online drama and toxicity that ends up overshadowing the comics themselves. To give an example, some IDW staff publicly criticized the developers of their own app over an issue involving AI-generated reviews. That's a poor look for the company, especially since the developers are their own coworkers or contractors affiliated with IDW. Internal disagreements like that should be handled professionally rather than playing out in public. From a marketing standpoint, this is a terrible look. Across social media, people aren't talking about how good the comics are. They're talking about the drama, how toxic the fandom is, and how the publisher treats people who criticize them. And this isn't just happening on X. YouTube and other social media platforms are covering this issue too, and the discussion usually comes down to the same things: -The stories are getting dumber. -The writers seem bored out of their minds. -The fandom is toxic and divided. When these are the main things people associate with your comics, it's hard to attract new readers or get existing fans excited. On top of that, the games are in a poor state, there have been no major announcements, and some of IDW's most loyal fans continue to fuel the toxicity. Taken together, I just don't see how IDW can grow much beyond where it is today. If they can't get better sales, they'll continue paying peanuts to their writers and artists.

@bonsoirdude I have only read a couple of the latest issues, it's so bad. The Sonic fanfictions that I read in the past on Deviantart are better than this.
