I remember a time when a student approached me with a rather thought-provoking question: “When and why does a dominant ruling party lose power?” It was a question that invited reflection, and I took a moment before responding. I explained that ruling parties, regardless of their dominance, can find themselves on the losing end of an election when they begin to see their victory as permanent. This overconfidence leads them to overlook signs of growing dissent among the party cadres and electorate, ignore the undercurrents of anti-incumbency, and fail to take proactive measures to address these issues. As the reality of their potential defeat becomes undeniable, these parties often resort to hasty, panic-driven responses, which only seal their fate, culminating in their eventual defeat at the polls. #curiosity #studentlearning #questionoftheday #academiclife

Happy to share that my column has been published in The Indian Express. I argued that the recent editorial (“Bihar to Karnataka, Congress must ask why”, November 29) leans on a familiar narrative: portraying Rahul Gandhi as “apocalyptic”. I disagree—not because the Congress lacks challenges, but because such interpretations overlook how power, money, and institutions have fundamentally reshaped India’s electoral landscape. @IndianExpress

There seems to be a massive drop in the reach of my posts on Twitter, for the last 2-3 weeks. It could be due to mass reporting or shadow ban. To break this algorithm 'spell' please help by liking, RTing or engaging with this post. Thanks in advance. 😊

Field Insights from Jubilee Hills! Our interns have successfully conducted a “Muslim Sentiment Survey” across 41 minority-dominant polling stations of the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency between 10–21 October 2025. 📊 Over 6,865 Muslim voters randomly selected from Voter List were interviewed face-to-face using structured questionnaires. This survey was designed to capture micro-level insights into voter attitudes, preferences, and booth-wise dynamics, helping us understand the evolving political and social sentiments on the ground. A big thank you to our dedicated interns, field coordinators, and data team for completing this large-scale exercise with sincerity and precision. #BillionConnect #Elections2025 #JubileeHillsByElection #JubileeHills #TelanganaPolitics #Hyderabad

We are happy to inform that our interns have successfully conducted a "Public Sentiment & Voter Perception Survey" across 12 polling stations of the Jubilee Hills Assembly Constituency during August-September 2025. 📊 2,198 voters were interviewed, covering 15% of the total electorate using mixed method including systematic random sampling approach. The exercise aimed to capture micro-level insights into voter attitudes, preferences, and booth dynamics. This pilot marks an important step in our ongoing effort to strengthen data-driven political consultancy and constituency mapping. 🗂️ Detailed findings and key insights will be shared soon. #BillionConnect #FieldResearch #VoterInsights #TelanganaPolitics #JubileeHills #Hyderabad

Happy to share my latest article published in The Indian Express on recurring internal feuds in regional parties. Each time I map the ruptures in these parties, the pattern seems less about ideas and more about control: Who decides, who benefits, and who is next. The feud is rarely an aberration; it is built into the ecology in which minor parties operate. I argued that the health of Indian democracy depends not only on free and fair elections between parties, but also on democracy within them. If parties cannot govern themselves predictably and fairly, how can we reasonably expect them to govern us? The fight against factionalism will not be won by clever press releases or cleverer alliances. It can be won — slowly — by building procedures that outlast personalities. Only then will minor parties stop falling to feuds and start delivering the stable, grounded politics they promise. Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on it. I’ve shared the link in the comment box. @IndianExpress #IndianPolitics #RegionalParties #PoliticalAnalysis #Democracy #PartyPolitics #Governance #IndianDemocracy
