A year ago this week, we held a series of actions designed to shake the district loose of its entrenched, bad-faith positions on PT health care and bargaining in general! Let’s look back on our 10/10 BOT action!

Our former executive director engaged voters in support of @PatrickAhrens1 for AD 26 because Patrick will be a champion for community colleges in the state assembly!

Governor Newsom vetoes, yet again, a bill that would allow part-time community college faculty to teach up to 80-85% of a FT load, citing the erroneous rationale that it would “create unknown costs…” Disappointing.

We congratulate @CCFFLocal6215 on their new contract which includes AB 190 compliant part-time faculty health care! ✊

Lots of welcome back and orientations and professional development events this week. It’s been absolutely exhausting and exhilarating at the same time.

Buu Thai, who is running for SJECCD’s Area 5 seat, attending the Dems picnic this weekend. Also, Clay Hale, current Area 7 trustee, hanging out with fellow faculty at the picnic!

Such is the nature of union work. Last minute trek to the district office (an hour away) to handle a very time-sensitive member issue.
