Naturally she fails to understand the meaning of Mary Sue entirely. It does not mean "girl character", it means "perfect character who can do anything with no limitations". Luke Skywalker was a half decent pilot with a degree of natural ability with the Force that takes him years to develop. He isn't particularly good at anything else. From the very beginning of The Force Awakens, Rey is an expert pilot, a master martial artist, a top spaceship mechanic, and within five seconds of finding out that the Force exists ascends to the level of Jedi Master. She's also hot, smart, brave, and all the other good things. She needs neither assistance nor instruction. Character growth is unnecessary and impossible. Her only struggle is getting people to admit her natural perfect awesomeness. And even this comes easily to her.
Fandom Pulse@fandompulse

Daisy Ridley says calling her character in Star Wars A Mary Sue is sexist: “The Mary Sue thing in itself is sexist because it’s the name of a woman. Everyone was saying that Luke had the exact same [capabilities]. I think Rey is incredible vulnerable, and nothing she’s doing is for the greater good. She’s just doing what she thinks is the right thing. And she doesn’t want to do some of it, but she feels compelled to do it. So for me, I was just confused.” Is this why modern Star Wars fails because they can't understand criticism?

Who would've thought the Mexican and black would team up to lie/exaggerate, and, at the same time, always claim be right in order to blackpill away from the only mechanism (MAGA) to deport Mexicans? What alternative do the offer? They have no plans, actually. Just Doom Merchants.

@DadaAlpaca (obviously, earning less than $80k is also going to leave you with a lower tax liability, but also...you just make less money. 80-125 is the sweet spot in terms of earning vs effective tax rates).

yeah, actually the zone from about 80-125 or so is the sweet spot for taxes because you're not in the highest brackets yet and you earn past the FICO limits and the child tax credits have not started phasing out. People in this zone with kids can often wind up paying and effective rate < 5% from $180k-$1m* is where you *really* get hosed because you're in the highest brackets and get fewer deductions and credits. Can't even contribute to a Roth IRA at that point. * - picked $1m as an upper limit, but really as long as you're a *wage earner*, you continue to get hosed. Moving to productive assets for income is the best way to lower tax liability.

We taught women how to ‘not need a man,’ then act shocked when they don’t know how to be a wife. A lot of pain could’ve been avoided by a simple letter like this from their mums the night before the wedding… A mother’s letter to her daughter, the night before her wedding Dear Daughter, Tonight you feel the sweetness and the trembling that come before a vow. I remember that feeling. I also know what no one tells a bride clearly enough: tomorrow you don’t just marry a man. You accept a vocation. God will use this marriage to make you holy, and He will do it through ordinary days, not just through beautiful ones. So I want to give you the counsel a loving mother gives when she cannot walk the road for her daughter, but she can place a lamp in her hands. First, never forget what you bring into a man’s life. You will shape the atmosphere of his home more than you realize. A man can face a hard world when he comes home to warmth, admiration, and peace. He will shrink when he comes home to suspicion, contempt, and constant correction. You don’t need to flatter him. You need to respect him. Respect does not mean you become small. Respect means you speak to his dignity. It means you correct without scorn. It means you don’t treat him like your child or your project. Many women think they motivate a man through pressure. Pressure produces resistance. Respect produces strength. When you need something, speak plainly. Don’t hint. Don’t test. Don’t punish with silence. Men do not decode subtext the way women do. Ask clearly. Ask kindly. Then give him the chance to rise. You will see this quickly: criticism lands on a man like a verdict. He hears, “I don’t believe in you.” If you want him to change, begin with what you appreciate. Name what he does well. Then make a single request. Keep it short. Keep it concrete. Keep it respectful. If he feels safe with you, he will listen. Now listen carefully, because this will save you from years of resentment: you can be feminine and firm at the same time. Femininity is not weakness. It is a kind of strength that brings life into a home: tenderness, warmth, reverence, joy, playfulness, mercy, beauty, steadiness. When you carry that spirit, you make it easier for him to be masculine in the best sense: decisive, protective, responsible, and brave. You don’t need to compete with him. You need to become his ally. That doesn’t remove boundaries. Boundaries protect love. If something becomes harmful, sinful, reckless, or disrespectful, you must speak. Speak once, calmly. State what you will accept and what you will not. Then act with integrity. Don’t threaten. Don’t bargain. Don’t spiral. A calm boundary teaches a man where safety lives. Guard your marriage from outsiders. Love your family, honor them, but do not build a triangle where your husband becomes the third wheel in his own home. Don’t vent to people who will only inflame you. Choose wise counsel when you need it. Protect your husband’s name. Protect your unity. That loyalty will become one of the deepest gifts you ever give him. Treat intimacy as sacred. Don’t treat it as currency. Don’t weaponize it. A man often experiences love through closeness in the body, and a wife often experiences closeness in the body through love. Build both. Speak honestly about desire and fatigue. Stay generous. Stay tender. When you protect intimacy, you protect the bond that makes hard seasons survivable. When conflict comes—and it will—repair quickly. Apologize without excuses. Forgive without scorekeeping. Speak the truth without cruelty. Keep short accounts. Peace grows where pride dies. Finally, put God in the center on day one. Pray for your husband. Pray with your husband. Go to confession. Keep the sacraments close. Your marriage will not thrive on romance alone. It will thrive on grace. Let God teach you how to love when you don’t feel lovable, and how to give when you feel empty. Tomorrow you will walk toward your husband. Walk with a soft heart and a steady spine. Give him respect. Give him peace. Give him truth. Then watch what a good man becomes under that kind of love. Mum

US fertility reached 1.57 last year, the lowest ever recorded, and the WSJ explanation is "uncertainty about finances, relationship stability, and the political climate" my great grandma had eleven children during the second world war, in a country being bombed, in a house with no running water, on rations. poor people have always had kids. the poorest people on earth right now still have kids and the financial excuse is a story we tell ourselves because it makes us feel good and the real one is unbearable the real mechanism is that we got rich enough to redefine children as an expense instead of the point. somewhere in the last fifty years the cultural goal inverted and a child stopped being what life is for and became a line item competing with the lifestyle. once you frame it that way the math never works, because the math isnt supposed to work. that's the point we are living in the richest moment in human history and we decided to use the surplus to buy ourselves out of the future. the most prosperous civilization that has ever existed is committing demographic suicide at the altar of personal optimization and comfort, and the official line is that we cant afford it the birthrate is a lagging indicator of a civilization that forgot why it was alive

We don’t ask Republicans to assimilate into American culture because they already represent it Muslim are not “natural conservatives” and they vote Democrat so they can increase Islamic immigration It’s an ethnic 5th column that should be rejected This is not American
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

Most American Muslims aren't immigrants. They're born and raised here. And they're not that different from the Republican base when it comes to questions of homosexuality, gender, and family. We don't ask Republicans to "assimilate" into American liberal culture. 1/

I’m going through the long, patient tread of Teddy Roosevelt’s four volume Winning of the West. I’m trying to think of a way to summarize and communicate the major themes. But I will say this: anybody who believes that America is a propositional nation has absolutely no bearing on the way Americans spoke about their own past at the beginning of the previous century. They are completely out of touch with historical reality. Heritage America was a place conquered, a Home built, by and for a unique people group. Teddy Roosevelt is the great and final enemy of all propositionalists. All propositionalists must stand down and submit in the face of his grand love for his people and their story on this continent. An American is an ethnic type, forged on the frontier, derivative of Anglo-Saxon Europe, yet at the same people of their own. And Roosevelt’s entire work is one of love and adoration for them.

This attempt that we’re increasingly seeing by largely Third Worldists to redefine America as a place where there is no shared identity, culture, or worldview, and that this lack of a cohesive national identity is somehow paradoxically the very thing that defines America in contrast to the rest of the world, will only end in sectarianism and balkanization. You cannot expect to tell people that this country is a blank canvas at the same time you’re fingerpainting over a preexisting masterpiece.

So, I did exactly what you asked and I sat down and read ALL 261 pages of your bill. It does support mass amnesty and I'll tell you exactly where: Pages 162-170... The Dream Act: You grant conditional lawful permanent resident status to ILLEGAL ALIENS who: >Have been continuously present in the U.S. since January 1, 2021 >Entered before age 18 >Meet education, employment, or military service requirements >Pass criminal background checks On top of this, in Sec. 2102(b)(3)(B), DACA recipients get fast-tracked to conditional green card status. ...which is literally mass amnesty BUT THE BILL GOES EVEN FURTHER!!! On pages 204-217, you present the Dignity Program: This is a separate track for illegal aliens who don't qualify for the Dream Act. If you are an illegal aliens who: > Was continuously present since December 31, 2020 >Pay a $1,000 upfront "restitution" fee >Submit biometrics, pass a background check >No felony convictions You get work authorization + travel authorization + deferred removal for 7 years After completing the 7-year program (paying $7,000 total in fees, staying employed, obeying laws, paying back taxes): We grant you: > "Dignity Status" which is essentially a lawful nonimmigrant status, which is renewable any number of times >Work and travel authorization But the most important bit that you're hiding here is that it totally suspends deportation of anyone who qualifies for this. This would effective end ALL MASS DEPORTATIONS in the United States immediately. You are a liar, you are a fraud, everything you stand for is fake... did YOU read your own bill? Because I just did, and you are a damned LIAR!!!!!

@smod4real I would probably stop going to church, at least. After that, I don’t know, I’d be lost. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied. — 1 Corinthians 15:19

Hypothetical question for my Christian friends: If it were somehow conclusively proven the resurrection did not happen, would that change how you live your life? If so, how? (If your faith prohibits you from even contemplating this hypothetical, no worries, please ignore 🙏)
