Been a few weeks since we did our fraize mow & sprig project at Olsen Field. As the pictures show, things are recovering & filling in nicely. First picture is from June 17, second is June 26, and the third is July 6. Progressing nicely for just under three weeks recovery!

@jcobb936 Update for the end of day 2 which included a second but shallower direction over the outfield again & starting on the foul territory. Infield & edges will be left as is since that’s mostly new(ish) sod. Just a little left to go tomorrow & then we start building it back.

Excited to finally get the time/opportunity to fraise mow one of our fields. This process will help reset the surface back to a smooth, even plane while simultaneously cleaning out some of the excess thatch & organic matter that has accumulated over the 21 year life of the field.

Due to construction activities, there are no scheduled activities for Olsen Field this summer. We don’t get open opportunities like this often so we’re using this as a chance to fraise mow the field and get a nice reset on the 21-year-old outfield surface.#Cleanitout

For those wondering, the official dimensions of this field are 185 ft in left field, 261 ft in dead center, 375 ft in right field and a deepest point of 429 ft.
This is per a Savannah Bananas spokesperson.

@nhampshire @tengland_150 You are correct Nick. The only reason the tarp was on the field was to preserve the infield surface for the game. As soon as we knew the game wasn’t happening there was no reason to leave the tarp on especially after being on for 24 hours straight since Saturday night.

“The A&M administration and field crew did an outstanding job of attempting to find windows around the lightning and impending weather. The SEC rule is you can’t start a game after 10 pm so we basically exhausted every option and ran out of time,” Schlossnagle said.
