So lucky to work in an industry I love. Very pleased to be presented with the 2019 @IFAJ - International Federation of Agricultural Journalists/Caterpillar Ag-tech Reporting Award at this year's Royal Ulster Winter Fair. Picture by Chris McCullough #agtech

The only person making money from OAD is the farmer himself/herself …. Hence it’s not encouraged by anyone these days it seems …. 🤔 So now a bit of fun …complete the following … OAD (full season now no half measures 😁) is _ _ I’m aware it’s not everyone’s cup of tea too.

@ArableSam I've had much better success using clay watering spikes. Having spent a long time scooping those beads out, I never want to see them again!

@ArableSam I suspect the extra moisture caused root rot. They are pots kept on the doorstep, so it's mainly the rain which does the watering. They used to need topped up routinely with water as it's fairly sheltered, but I found the gel went too far the other way.

@PadraigBelton Awww, this is so fantastic! I used to make little newspapers and magazines as a little girl too... I'd almost forgotten about this! Who would have ever thought years later that I'd be doing it for real 😂

My little girl is up at 6 am to bang out a magazine for the neighbourhood children. It has a word search, and adverts, and exclusives. And they say we don’t influence our young.

Doing a farm business plan. I have never seen such a dairy-centric document. The vast majority of it does not apply to me. One size fits all

@RonanGKelly @bbcradioulster @bbcnewsline Unfortunately there is no coverage for the 'old-fashioned' who have had to turn to the radio though. The council drop centre details, stories of the clear up operation, the families coping without power, and services doing what they can should have been given air time.

@agrirach @bbcradioulster @bbcnewsline Agreed. Social media is where the public, particularly younger people, get their news these days. I remain old-fashioned and tend to revert to our trusted outlets on TV and radio. In my case, it’s probably an age thing. A thought: During power cuts, we used to play ‘I Spy’. 🤔

.@bbcradioulster Just had a call from a friend about Evening Extra’s reporting of today’s UK national emergency alert. He said the presenter joked about it, totally overlooking its importance and how distressing the alert could be for vulnerable listeners. Does anyone agree? 📻

@RonanGKelly @bbcradioulster @bbcnewsline Yes, very helpful for people with no electricity 😉 Social media seems to be the only way to find out what's happening atm, which is a real shame because yesterday's radio coverage was excellent. (I missed the Evening Extra comment).

@agrirach @bbcradioulster I wasn’t listening to @bbcradioulster today but there was coverage on @bbcnewsline earlier. Unfortunately, with your power off, you wouldn’t have seen it. They said teams from Britain are being brought in to assist the local engineers. I hope your supply will soon be restored. 🕯️

Lots of tractor honking audible in even inside the halls of the Oxford Farming Conference as Defra secretary Steve Reed speaks

It's a huge honour to take home The Bull from the @AgriGuild awards against stiff competition, and even better to be joined by my colleagues @ADonoghue_ and @StephenRobbDL, winners of their categories.

This architect, Claire Totman, apparently specialises in renovating suburban houses. Interesting to see how much she achieves by a few simple tricks: celebrating the door, floral borders, symmetrical small-glazed windows, consistent colour palette, tidying up materials.
