If you built this product today, from scratch, knowing what AI can do... would it look anything like what you have?

That coach-like feeling of picking which agent to send onto the field. Will it be Codex, Claude, or Cursor?

As evidenced by the unbridled promotion and implementation of technology at the expense of human dignity, we are truly experiencing an eclipse of the sense of what it means to be human. It is imperative to recover an understanding of the true meaning and grandeur of humanity as intended by God. It is in this sense that the challenge we currently face is not technological, but anthropological, and it is my hope that the Encyclical Letter to be published within a few days will contribute to answering this challenge.

In photography, imo, it’s ethical to edit transient elements (a food stain, people in the background who’ll move away in minutes), but it’s not ethical to alter the permanent essence of a person or a place.

Bragging about how much software you’re shipping with AI is like holding down the shutter button and bragging about how many photos you took.

We also see this in tech. Microsoft, for example, has recurring quality issues across many products. Instead of using AI to augment engineers and fix things faster, they cut staff so AI can maintain the same mediocre baseline more efficiently.

We see this a lot with automated call centers and AI bots. Companies shifted to AI-only customer service, and people hate it. If instead they had adopted a true hybrid AI-human model, agents could have delivered a much better customer experience.

When technology is used to optimize resources and speed instead of improving output quality, the product almost always gets worse. That’s why firing people because of an optimization, instead of reallocating them (or even hiring different profiles), usually worsens the product or service.

We are moving from the era of manual data collection and insights creation to the era of automatic gathering of data and agentic solutions.

@bettercallsalva Totally agree. They’ll have to retain users through the ecosystem of tools and the workflows. As has always happened, implementation keeps winning over the raw underlying technology.

@agustinbg commoditization at the model layer is happening, the differentiator is the toolchain. claude code with skills + mcp + hooks is hard to replicate even if the underlying weights are competitive elsewhere. the moat moved up the stack.

AI Frontier Labs should be concerned that AI is becoming increasingly commoditized. Developers can easily switch from Claude Code to Codex, and if someone else offers an equally capable model at a lower cost (or even locally and for free), people will switch immediately.

After leading AI workshops with Mexico’s biggest companies I’ve noticed something i call "the productivity illusion" > people using AI to optimize processes that shouldn’t exist in the first place > tons of workslop (ie reports, dashboards. mails) being generated that none will ever read or use Basically, a gap in critical thinking, heavily augmented by AI

Codex on the mobile app is a game changer. I don’t say this often about new products, but the ease of use (compared to Claude Code Remote, for example) and the capabilities are top-notch.

There’s nothing more exciting than being able to learn, pioneer, and apply new knowledge, tools, and technologies. And let’s be clear: lower-level fields are nowhere near solved. But more people will be able to get their hands on them, which kinda' sucks.

Move into higher, more challenging fields. Let the boring parts be handled by the clankers. Push the frontiers of what’s being done, and how it’s being done. Think from a different baseline. Don’t cope, ride the wave.

The baseline goes up; that will always happen. Demand goes up too: Jevons paradox. The problem is, if your own baseline stays the same, you’re fucked, because you’ll be competing with far more people. It's not rocket science.
