The Footprint Dash app is now complete. I've implemented an LLM layer, and here's a twist: I didn't even need a vision-language model. Codex GPT-5.4 suggested that I could load the JSON directly into the prompt, since Plotly first creates a JSON payload and then generates the chart based on it. That was incredibly useful advice. Now, the script uses the JSON payload directly in the LLM prompt at each 15-minute bar completion. Although I still think the summary is a little truncated, I plan to work on that. To be fair, I am currently using the Qwen 3.5 9B model, which is quite small. Things might improve if I switch to Gemma-4 26B A4B. The LLM analysis at the bottom is based on a 14:45 completed bar. The new bar was created after the LLM summary. (Qwen took 5 minutes to process the prompt while all layers were on GPU, I think it's due to a huge JSON context dump, around 26k tokens)

I built a footprint chart in Python, using the order flow logic I had already coded. I initially used Claude Sonnet 4.6 for the Plotly visualisation (thinking how difficult it can be, why waste tokens on Opus, the usual routine). While it managed to create the chart, the logic relied on looping through annotations, which made the whole thing painfully slow. Then I tried Opus 4.6, and it immediately spotted the bottleneck. It suggested a workaround using arrays, which plotly supports. Now the chart loads instantly, and since I am using Plotly Dash, we can even monitor it live. I still need to run this through a multimodal LLM for analysis. That should be a really interesting experiment. Edit: The data feed comes from my own custom scraper running on a Raspberry Pi. It pulls bid-ask data the second it changes rather than relying on fixed microsecond snapshots.
