@MahmudBamba @GhanaGOLDBOD @SammyGyamfi_ @Rich_Nune Goldbod posted their financials I asked about their impact on galamsey that is what I am interested in.
English

@ahisub @GhanaGOLDBOD @SammyGyamfi_ @Rich_Nune Why didn't NPP declare that State of Emergency? Why did NAPO and Bryan Acheampong told us they won't stop Galamsey today or tomorrow?
And why do U think Mahama declaring State of Emergency will be the ultimate solution?
We need reinforce NAIMOS and bring in new reforms

KEY TAKEAWAYS FROM THE 2025 AUDITED FINANCIALS OF THE GOLDBOD
It is instructive to note, that despite the GoldBod’s revenue growing exponentially from 307.7 million in 2024 to 970.8 million in 2025, expenditure declined from 129.7 million in 2024 to 109.4 million in 2025.
The reduction in expenditure was in spite of the substantial expansion of the staff strength and mandate of the GoldBod as compared to the defunct PMMC.
For instance, whereas the defunct PMMC had a total workforce of 114 in 2024, the GoldBod maintained a total workforce of 450 in the year 2025, yet managed to keep expenditure at relatively lower levels through fiscal prudence that delivered a total operational (non-tax) surplus of 909.7 million.

@MahmudBamba @GhanaGOLDBOD @SammyGyamfi_ @Rich_Nune Goldbod being the sole buyer of gold is automatically a market for illegal (galamsey gold). Goldbod gives the government incentive to prioritize revenue over reform such as declaring a state of emergency. If goldbod implements traceability they can end galamsey.
English

@ahisub @GhanaGOLDBOD @SammyGyamfi_ @Rich_Nune If you say so then U must know the kind of impact. Just tell us.
English

@MahmudBamba @GhanaGOLDBOD @SammyGyamfi_ @Rich_Nune Their work has a direct impact on galamsey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today, I had the honour of welcoming the International Monetary Fund Mission team, led by Dr. Ruben Atoyan, to commence the Sixth Review of Ghana’s programme under the Extended Credit Facility.
As I reflected on the journey from the depths of the 2022 crisis to this key review, one thing was clear: this has been a long, demanding, but ultimately transformative partnership between Ghana and the Fund.
It is, in every material sense, a success.
Together, we have stabilised the economy.
we have restored credibility. we have given renewed hope to the Ghanaian people.
On behalf of the President and the people of Ghana, I expressed our deep appreciation to the IMF team.
This progress is significant . It is the product of discipline, and difficult decisions taken in the national interest.
But I was equally clear: progress does not permit complacency.
Some Risks remain. And we must confront them with honesty and urgency.
The most pressing of these is youth unemployment. I understand the weight of expectation on government.
If we do not create the conditions for the private sector to absorb our young people, the pressure on the state to provide jobs will become unsustainable.
Our path forward is therefore deliberate:
We must ensure that stability translates into more investment, more jobs, and more opportunities for all.
Because beyond the numbers, that is the true test of this recovery.
Before the conclusion of this very important mission, we will take critical decisions on the next phase of Ghana's economic Reform agenda.
This reform will target policy credibility, enforce reform discipline, and boost investor confidence.
Encouragingly, the IMF team shares this assessment.
They described this moment as a significant milestone and acknowledged the major successes achieved under the programme, crediting the strong efforts of government.
This is where we are. With stability restored. With credibility regained. And with a renewed responsibility to convert these gains into lasting prosperity.
We will keep the momentum!

My former boss was in Washington, D.C., recently for a conference and reached out…
I drove 40 mins to meet him…
I couldn't miss the opportunity.
→ Dr. Anime-Boamah is one of Ghana's finest healthcare leaders with multiple national recognitions, including the overall best Medical Doctor in Ghana 🇬🇭.
→ He is also a well-respected obstetrician-gynecologist.
→ He is the former CEO of the ultramodern University of Ghana Medical Center (Google it, you will be amazed).
→ Before this, he was the Medical Director of Eastern Regional Hospital, where I had my 2 years of housemanship training.
→ He has been a great resource & mentor since I completed medical school.
——————-
I have so many stories about that time…
→ During my rotation in the obstetrics and gynecology department, he was the head of the department.
→ He trained & taught us some of the most complex surgeries you can think of.
→ Within a month, I was comfortably performing common obstetric and gynecological surgeries unsupervised.
→ He would often tell me to go to the theater and help out.
→ This was how much he believed in my surgical skills and judgment.
→ But sometimes he would also caution me to slow down 😄.
➤ I remember one time, he asked me to go and start a case (C/S) in the theatre.
The idea was for him to join me later.
By the time he got to the theatre, the nurses were already moving the patient out 🫢.
He spent about 30 minutes that day advising me that speed is not a desired outcome in surgery.
I was young and enthusiastic 😅.
The patient had no complications after surgery, but I slowed down after that day.
→ By the end of my 6-month rotation in the department, I had performed over 60 procedures (minor + major).
In contrast, some of my colleagues who stayed in the major cities will probably perform 0.
————————
→ He was so sure I would be a fantastic obstetrician-gynecologist, as did most of the hospital staff.
→ So, he was SHOCKED when I reached out to him in 2018 and told him I needed a recommendation letter for my application for MPH & MBA.
My time in the military and exposure to the UN in the Ivory Coast and Northern Mali changed my mind.
→ Nonetheless, he wrote me a powerful recommendation letter that helped me secure admission to #Harvard, #Hopkins, #Emory, #Yale, and others
