To all the youngins out there, Happy Easter. When we feel lost, when all hope is gone, When we’re overcome with grief, When we’re done looking at the atrocities in the world, We remember that nothing can separate us from God; the tomb is empty and death is defeated!

Stirred the pot last night. Unity in diversity is never easy but Jesus shows us the way.

It’s Holy Week and aia is getting back into Philippians. Tonight at 6:45, study hall classroom. Who are the “bad” Christians to you, and can we live in unity with them? Looking at Philippians 2:1-11 and we got chicken + beef/lamb gyros to eat. See you there if you can make it!

After shouts of Hosanna, Jesus enters the temple & clears out those who have used religion to exploit people. He then welcomes the blind & paralyzed in the temple & heals them. Holy Week reminds us that Jesus has a furious love for those the world has little regard for.

This Palm Sunday, let’s remember... Jesus chose a donkey of peace instead of a horse of war. Jesus disarmed his followers instead of forming an army. Jesus took up his cross instead of taking up arms. Jesus exposed the evil of violence instead of partnering with it. Jesus laid down his own life instead of taking anyone else’s.

Today our brother Dr. John Perkins passed on to the other side. He was a dear friend for over 20 years. Mentor. We wrote a book together. Preached together. Laughed and cried together. He is a gem of a human being. He was 95. So we celebrate a life well-lived. I will miss him, but I know there is a party on the other side welcoming him home. My heart goes out to his beloved Vera Mae and the whole Perkins family.

I never knew Dr. Perkins, but I have been loved by people who knew him well. Rest in peace to a giant in the Faith; my life will not be the same because of him.

Back to business tonight, 6:45! Excited for Elvin and Ty to get us going as we go verse by verse through Philippians the rest of the semester. Pizza and salad to eat. It’s gonna be a great opportunity to lean into the discipline of reading scripture together.
