We've just learnt the heartbreaking news that Deputy Labor Leader Prue Car has cancer. Those of you who know Prue will know that there's nothing out there that can stop her. And this fight will be no different. From all of us here at NSW Labor - we're all with you Prue.

Great share Aiden! A very useful in helping teach #SDG12 and SDG13 with great resources to use within a unit. I particularly liked how to create an Edible School Garden - a comprehensive guide to gardening.

Sustainable Schools NSW has a easy to read website on food gardens. They share resources, student activities and grants that will help set up gardens. How could you use this in your project? #Educ4750 #UoNTeach #SDG12 sustainableschoolsnsw.org.au/teach/food-gar…

@aiden_dennis I didn't think to incorporate the Quality Teaching Framework Aiden, thank you pointing out that link! Are there any areas of the QTF in particular that you will link to Bloom's Taxonomy?

During my unit of work, I will address all elements of Blooms taxonomy to allow students to develop a deep understanding of what they are learning. For the summative assessment I will focus on the area of 'create'. What pedagogies will you use in your unit? #educ4750 #Blooms

“Blooms taxonomy works ideally as an assessment design tool. If students can consistently work with the topic in the columns–designing, recommending, differentiating, comparing and contrasting- then they likely have a firm grasp on the material.” bit.ly/2Bvt0I0

@aiden_dennis Wow, I wasn't aware of this! I think schools housing bees is a great idea. However, it could be difficult as beekeeping is quite complex and requires regular maintenance. Also, it might be too much of a risk for students with anaphylaxis!

#Biodiversity is essential for any future on planet Earth... Sometimes it’s important to remind people that THEIR futures are in danger, not just those of animals and ecosystems. Surely the thought of having no food should be enough incentive for change! #UoNTeach #educ4750

Protecting pollinators is essential for #FoodSecurity — now and in the future. 🌸🍒🍑🐝🍯🥑🥦🦋🍇 @FAO explains how pollinator diversity can help minimize the impact of #ClimateChange of food security. Let's act #ForNature and protect our #pollinators!

A great way to get community involvement and setting up a community garden from the ground up. Bunnings Hands-On Support is a great resource for any schools looking to set up a community project. Have a look & tell me your thoughts. #Educ4750 #UonTeach bunnings.com.au/about-us/in-ou…

@BenjaminMaytom It is very helpful, it can be used by classes to track the amount of food waste that they produce and there could be awards for classes with the least amount of food waste produced!

@BenjaminMaytom It is so important to follow the nature cycle, promoting the nature cycle in schools is a great way for schools to approach Sustainable Consumption and Production. Worm farms are great and students love to watch them!

Despite the black cloud of covid over the past year, and the recent floods, I still can’t shake the horror of Australia’s Black Summer. What stories of hope & regrowth have you heard in the wake of these events? How are #people and #ecosystems recovering? #UoNTeach #educ4750

One year on from the start of the Gospers Mountain megafire, we’re remembering Australia’s devastating summer of bushfires. These are the stories of some of the survivors of these fires. #climatechanged #rememberthefires #australianbushfires

Teaching students about seasonal vegetables is an important part of running a successful community garden. Who could you ask to help teach students about seasonal vegetables? Where will you get the seedlings? #Educ4750 #UoNTeach #SDG12

@JuliaBe64274003 I know Slow Food Hunter Valley has a seed bank in the Maitland Library that people in the community can donate and take seasonal vegetables. There a lots of different seeds that you normally can't find at shops. This helps promote and secure biodiversity!

@chelsseck That is a fantastic visual. It is scary how it all adds up food wastage. Promoting sustainable practices in schools and schools leading by example could help reduce the statistics. War on Waste has a great video of a High School tackling their food waste!

@chelsseck @YouTube Great resource to introduce students to Sustainable Consumption and Production. If all schools took a small approach to reducing food wastage it would have a great impact on the planet and environment.
