This guy REDUCED his token usage by 178X in Claude Code🤯 and then admitted his claim is basically a lie he took a 14.3M token repo ran a query got back ~80K tokens 14.3M / 80K = 178x sounds insane but here’s the catch that’s not how real AI systems work Claude isn’t scanning 14M tokens every time and magically shrinking it to 80K real usage includes: input tokens output tokens cache reads + writes tool calls subprocesses all of it adds up that “178x” math ignores most of where tokens actually go and this is exactly how people fake “token efficiency” online big context ÷ small retrieval add a huge multiplier post it boom viral but the real problem isn’t retrieval it’s memory what happens 10 turns later when the same file is needed again? what gets dropped as the session grows? what actually survives? most tools don’t solve this they just assume it works it doesn’t so he built a system that tracks context instead of just fetching it once two layers: a codebase graph (structure of the repo) a live session graph (what’s used, what matters, what should persist) so context is reused not forgotten real results from actual repos: ~50 to 60% average token reduction up to ~80% in some cases not 178x just honest numbers and better systems his take: AI isn’t the bottleneck how we manage context is and most people are getting it wrong right now
