I have been trained not to draw broad consequential claims from studies whose external validity may be limited, yet, applying this insight/keeping in mind the principle of compromise in policymaking and peacebuilding can be the answer we are looking for in today's polarized world

One of the most crucial findings from over four years of my research in Leiden is that compromise is a highly valued principle among voters (at least in the domain of legislative politics)

We studied how important people found these roles & how they evaluated practice in their country 💡 Key takeaway: Most citizens want opposition parties that can both challenge government and work constructively when needed, but views and evaluations vary

📊 We examined three main opposition roles: OVERSIGHT: Criticizing & monitoring government COOPERATION: Working with government to get things done ALTERNATIVE: Offering alternative policies/government

In 2018 I came across an expose of “Academic Grievance Studies and the Corruption of Scholarship” (en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grievan...). This attempt “to highlight perceived poor scholarship by submitting bogus papers to academic journals” has blown my mind but raised many questions

This initiative came to fruition as a result of the international women’s conference “Give Peace a Chance,” based on UN Resolution 1325, which I had the pleasure of working with in October 2024. Looking forward to continuing this dialogue 🕊️
