🇺🇸 Goldman Sachs warned that AI could impact 300 million jobs globally. Many laughed it off… Now, companies are cutting thousands of roles while openly blaming AI, even as they post record profits. Meta just laid off 8,000 people while pouring over $100B into AI this year alone. And we’re still in the 1st inning.

🍏 Apple is turning Siri into a full AI chat bot in iOS 27 Siri is reportedly becoming a standalone chat app with conversation history, accessible through Siri itself or by swiping down from the center of the screen. Unlike rivals that rely on manual “incognito” modes, Apple plans to make chats auto-delete by default after 30 days, one year, or never, giving users tighter control over privacy and memory. The upgraded Siri is expected to work more like ChatGPT or Claude, offering natural back-and-forth conversations while limiting what the assistant can remember and for how long. Apple is also revamping Genmoji, its AI emoji generator, so it can suggest emojis based on photos and commonly used phrases, fixing many of the awkward issues from its first rollout last year.

🤖🍏 The OpenAI–Apple partnership may already be falling apart. Back in 2024, Apple presented ChatGPT integration as a major part of Apple Intelligence. Siri could tap into OpenAI, users could subscribe directly through iPhones, and it looked like the beginning of a long-term alliance. Now, according to Reuters, OpenAI is exploring legal action against Apple. The problem: OpenAI expected deep integration across Apple’s ecosystem and millions of new users. Instead, ChatGPT reportedly remained buried inside the system, while negotiations over broader access went nowhere. What really changed everything is Apple’s new strategy. The company is now testing integrations with Google Gemini and Anthropic’s Claude, turning Apple Intelligence into a multi-model AI platform instead of relying heavily on OpenAI. That means OpenAI could go from Apple’s flagship AI partner… to just another option in the menu. OpenAI probably won’t leave the iPhone ecosystem entirely, the user base is too massive. But the “exclusive partnership” era already looks over.

🇲🇹 Malta becomes the first country in the world to give all citizens free access to ChatGPT The Maltese government has signed an agreement with OpenAI to provide every resident with free access to ChatGPT Plus for one year. To activate the subscription, citizens must complete a special online course called “AI for All,” developed by the University of Malta. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. A regular ChatGPT Plus subscription normally costs $20 per month. Malta has a population of approximately 574,000 people.

Musk’s lawsuit against Altman dismissed as untimely A jury found that all three main claims in Elon Musk’s case against Sam Altman were barred by statutes of limitations after approximately 90 minutes of consideration. The counts—breach of charitable trust, aiding and abetting breach, and restitution or unjust enrichment—were each ruled time-barred. Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers recognized and agreed with the jury’s conclusion, resulting in all three claims being dismissed. These were the only claims that might have led to remedies such as disgorgement, a constructive trust on Brockman’s estimated $30 billion equity, or nonprofit influence over the for-profit entity. The jury did not assess whether Altman or Brockman committed a breach, determining only that Musk’s lawsuit had been filed too late.

🇨🇳 China is reducing its reliance on foreign AI chips. China's AI chip self-sufficiency ratio is up to a record 41%. This measures the proportion of domestic AI chip demand met by locally produced chips, rather than imported ones. This ratio has QUADRUPLED over the last 5 years. The AI chip self-sufficiency ratio is now projected to more than DOUBLE to ~85% by 2030, according to Morgan Stanley. In other words, China could meet nearly all of its own AI chip demand domestically within 5 years.

🇺🇸🇨🇳Anthropic dropped one of the clearest warnings yet about the US-China AI race. Their new paper argues the US and its allies could lock in a 12–24 month lead in frontier AI by 2028, but only if they successfully cut China off from advanced chips and American model capabilities. The report paints a picture of a technological cold war already happening behind the scenes. According to Anthropic, Chinese labs are staying close to US frontier models through loopholes, smuggled GPUs, offshore data centers, and “distillation” attacks, where companies use outputs from leading American models to cheaply copy capabilities without paying the massive training costs. Anthropic calls compute the real currency of AI power. Not just another resource, but the bottleneck controlling everything: training, deployment, experimentation, revenue, and the creation of future generations of models. One of the paper’s boldest claims is about China’s semiconductor gap. Anthropic estimates Huawei may produce only 4% of NVIDIA’s aggregate compute capacity in 2026, falling to roughly 2% in 2027. The paper also warns that whoever wins frontier AI may gain something historically unprecedented: A “country of geniuses in a data center.” Anthropic believes future model clusters could function like enormous expert workforces capable of accelerating cyber operations, scientific discovery, engineering, military R&D, and state influence at massive scale.

🇺🇸 Elon Musk made one of the strongest defenses of America you’ll hear anywhere. After WWII, the US had total dominance: Nukes, unmatched industry, and no real rival. Every empire in history used that kind of advantage to conquer. America rebuilt its enemies instead. Germany became Europe’s economic engine. Japan became an economic superpower. The US even flew food into Berlin just years after the war. Musk’s point is bigger than history. AI is about to create another massive power imbalance. And the real question is: When someone has unstoppable power, what do they choose to do with it? America’s most important act wasn’t building the bomb, it was choosing restraint after.

Dario states that artificial general intelligence, or "powerful AI," is expected to arrive in 2028. In his earlier work, he defined "powerful AI" as a system surpassing human experts in most important fields, capable of independent reasoning, creativity, coding, research, and autonomous digital action. He also described the concept of "a country of geniuses in a datacenter" as millions of advanced AI agents operating simultaneously. These agents would work much faster than people, collaborating at a level comparable to a nation of Nobel-caliber minds within computational infrastructure. The latest blog post notes that US frontier labs are on track to release new models in 2028, expected to demonstrate breakthroughs in capability similar to major prior advancements.

⚠️Humanoid robots just got their App Store moment. Unitree Robotics launched UNISTORE, an app store for robot skills. Right now it’s mostly motion packs: • dances • martial arts • movement routines But the bigger idea is massive. Today you download skills for AI agents inside your computer. Soon you’ll download physical abilities for robots in the real world. One click: → your robot learns coffee prep. Another: → it handles warehouse inventory overnight. Another: → it harvests crops without bruising them. This is the shift from: • apps for phones • skills for AI • capabilities for humanoids The companies that win robotics may not just build the best robots, they may build the biggest skill ecosystems.

💘 Bumble’s founder just described the future of dating… and it sounds exactly like a Black Mirror episode. Instead of endlessly swiping through profiles, your personal AI assistant could soon do the dating for you. The idea is that your AI would learn everything about you, your personality, insecurities, preferences, relationship goals, even how you text, then go talk to thousands of other people’s AI assistants to find the “perfect” match before you ever meet a real person. Basically: Your AI dates their AI first. Only after the algorithms approve each other do the humans step in. Bumble says this could reduce ghosting, awkward small talk, fake profiles, and swipe fatigue. But critics think it turns relationships into something that feels less human and more like automated recruiting software. The craziest part is this isn’t science fiction anymore. Dating apps are already adding AI assistants, AI coaching, and AI matchmaking systems because younger users are getting exhausted by the current swipe economy. The internet immediately compared it to Black Mirror because we may be heading toward a world where algorithms know who you should love before you do.
