An F-35A Lightning II takes off at Misawa Air Base 🇯🇵, April 7, 2026. The first F-35 flight operations conducted by the 13th FGS marked continued progress in the 35th FW’s transition, ensuring the wing maintains operational combat capability & deterrence across the Indo-Pacific.

America Fest 2026 at Kadena Air Base, Japan America Fest is an opportunity for the local community to meet U.S. service members, see advanced static aircraft up close, learn about Kadena’s mission and experience American culture.

I’m very pleased to arrive in Japan as part of my first international trip as Under Secretary of War for Policy. The U.S.-Japan alliance is of profound and fundamental importance. I look forward to discussing with Japanese counterparts how we can quickly and materially strengthen deterrence along the first island chain in line with the NSS and NDS.

On 11 Jun,deputy commanders of the ＃ASC Maj Gen Kajiya and the @air_fifth Brig Gen Friedel met at Fuchu Air Base. They affirmed the significance to strengthen mobility capabilities and agreed to maintain close collaboration to promote readiness in a dynamic security environment.
