Recs for stories any genre set post apocalyptic some 100 or more years in the future? Really interested in ones focused on place and landscape change and of course survival.

I love clear poems. But some days I distrust clarity. I like poems that keep something secret too, like a city at night. We all keep something. The poem is a key we give to a stranger to turn and open the locked door in our chest.

@SeanLemonhead I return to Reetika Vazirani. Whenever I return to her work, I think of the vivid triumph of her images. I never crossed her path but miss her anyway.

I never get tired of talking up Lynda Hull. She died at 39 years old. I published the last poem she wrote in my journal Red Brick Review in the 90s. I often grieve the poems she never wrote. Who is the poet you grieve who did not get to write the poems we need in this world?

Folks aren’t actually debating bathrooms and pronouns. They’re debating people’s right to exist in public.

@JoseHernandezDz The heys have resonance in the 1st draft, if you wanted that focus. I prefer the first for that. And the idea of being separate posts, instead of a fluid moment, lives w/ the 1st too. As if each post were a singular moment or an epiphany for change. Loving your poems, your posts.

Okay, just for fun, if you had to pick three favorite poets, who would they be? For me: Alberto Ríos, James Tate, & Ada Limón. 🥰

@JessicaACuello What a wonderful piece. The rhythm was so important to the story. The turn shifts from the quickening of the fire to something slower, finer, almost soothing. Loved it.

I once did a short lesson for my HS students on “how to do small talk.” Afterwards, kids started showing up at lunchtime to “practice their small talk.”

@pronounced_ing I think the author on stage can be unmasked, if they are at a distance and feel comfortable being w/o mask. I recently read with one on and it was difficult to project and difficult for others to understand me beyond the use of the mike (and I am not stage-shy or muted).

@DnnrPants This feels like the beginning of longer tragedy for women everywhere. And the ruling includes a threat to other freedoms and infringements on civil/human rights. The court is moving quickly.

I keep serious topics off of this page most of the time and I do that very deliberately. That being said I’m disgusted at today’s events and women’s bodies being controlled in this or any fashion is vile and immoral. This is a nightmare.

@mdbell79 Yes! I've written three prologues so far and haven't been able to get anything from my head onto the screen, unless it's the perpetual "beginning " I can't seem to get away from. How do you combat that dizzying spin?
