Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing an essay, writing a eulogy, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing for 5,000 years.

Omygoooooooodnesss!!!!! WHY have i never seen this before?!? What an awesome idea!!! Can you imagine as a prerequisite all seniors choose a kindergartners to mentor and teach....... teaching the seniors patience and pride, and the kindergartners have someone to look up to ( not in their family) And when the seniors graduate, the kindergartners will graduate with them (into first grade) That would be an AWESOME program!

One thing about adulthood that way too many people learn way too late (and have no choice but to learn the hard way): you have to be deliberate/proactive about everything. For the first time in your life, you can't be passive participant in anything.

In 1998, I was fired from my corporate job while 9 months pregnant because and I quote, “my priorities would be elsewhere after the baby is born.” The lawyer I hired told me I didn’t have a case because discrimination like “that” was almost impossible to prove. So I got pissed. Took the LSAT. Went to law school. Passed the bar. Had 3 more kids. Twelve years later, another woman from that same company was fired for the same reason. She sued them for a million dollars, and won, partly because I had kept every piece of evidence from what happened to me years prior demonstrating a systemic pattern of discrimination against women. That company no longer exists. My law practice is thriving. And that baby they said would derail my priorities? She’s a brilliant attorney now working at my firm. Turns out my priorities were indeed, elsewhere.

I was a dumbass 15 year old and choose all humanities as A Levels despite getting As in maths and all sciences. Later regretted that because it permanently excluded me from ever having a STEM career. You should be forced (or at least encouraged) to study maths and science up to 18 like lots of other countries

It’s because you have to turn 25 or so to realise that what you choose for your GCSE’s sets the first ever precedent in your adult life, but you don’t know that because you’re 14. The people who picked triple science know what I mean.

i will never forget when i was in recovery for my ed and i went to the beach and a seagull took the sandwich i had as part of my meal plan and i had to explain to my ed team that a seagull was trying to sabotage my recovery
