Another bright young mind lost to the cruelty of fate! Dr Manikandan, one of Pondicherry's foremost ObGyns and fetal medicine consultants, lost his life to a massive heart attack in the wee hours of today. A very accomplished, widely respected and skilled fetal medicine consultant, he was a dear friend of mine. We were neighbours in JIPMER's married resident quarters when we were setting out on our respective careers. Two blocks of 12 one BHK apartments, the MSR quarters area was a virtual nursery, with most of the inhabitants having young fledgling families. Even after we left Pondy, we kept in occasional touch with each other. One still can't believe he isn't amongst us any more. His passing is a rude shock. Praying to the Lord that He may grant Sadgati to the departed soul and immense strength to his shocked family and friends.

मिलिए पलामू और चियांकी गाँव के दामाद से ! आज हमारी शादी की सालगिरह है 💐 मेरे जीवन का सबसे शुभ दिन है ! ⭐️मेरे पति ने मेरी सरना आदिवासी आस्था का हमेशा सम्मान किया । हमारी पूजा पद्दति को कभी भी अंधविश्वास , भूत पूजा या पाखंड नहीं कहा ⭐️जब भी हम अपने पाहन पुजारी से पूजा कराते हैं , पति भी श्रद्धा से हमारे साथ पूजा करते हैं । वे मुझे सरना पूजा पद्दति का पालन करने के लिए प्रोत्साहन देते हैं ⭐️ मैंने सनातनी से शादी की है , हमारी जड़ें एक हैं - इसीलिए मुझे मेरे आदिवासी आस्था का पालन करने की पूर्ण आज़ादी है । यही सत्य है । ⭐️सरना सनातन के रीति रिवाज में बहुत अंतर है । लेकिन दोनों प्रकृति , धरती , सूरज , पूर्वज , पशु धन , इत्यादि , की पूजा करते हैं । इसीलिए एक परिवार के हैं ⭐️ दूसरे जाति में शादी का हर जाति में विरोध होता है । किंतु यह समझने की जरूरत है की कोई भी महिला - जो की एक बेटी और बहन भी है , अपने परिवार या अपने समाज को लज्जित करने के लिए यह कदम नहीं उठाती है । प्रेम विबाह भी ईश्वर का आशीर्वाद है ⭐️मेरे पति सेक्रेटरी रैंक में सीनियर IAS अधिकारी हैं - हिमांचल में काम करते हैं । मैं हिमाचल में उनके साथ बहुत आराम की ज़िन्दगी बीता सकती हूँ । लेकिन मैंने संघर्ष का रास्ता चुना है , और उनसे अलग रह कर समाज के लिए संवैधानिक लड़ाई कर रही हूँ । ⭐️ मेरे पति भी आदिवासी समाज के संवैधानिक अधिकार की लड़ाई में हमेशा मेरी मदद करते हैं । आज सनातनी नव वर्ष है । सरहुल परब भी आदिवासियों का नव वर्ष माना जाता है । यही सरना -सनातन एकता का परिचय है 💕💐 जय महादेव 🙏🏽💐

My mother Shukla was the perennial star of the Shimla Kali Bari annual Puja play in the late sixties and always got the prime roles. And my father was usually deputed to look after me and bring me to rehearsal. On the big day, he got distracted by ma's performance and forgot to hold on to me. And I, all of two, took the opportunity to run towards the stage shouting for my ma, daddy in hot pursuit. Ma froze for a couple of seconds, and then daddy finally caught up and scooped me up and Shakuntala went back to character. Shukla Bhattacharjya(20th April 1933- 19th March 2020)
