@timyagley @yalltitanup An easy mistake (that I also made) was i correctly reading the police report. The first Vehicle listed is actually Vehicle 2 which is the semi. Vehicle 1 was driven by Miller and that was the one that crossed the center line.

Matt Miller was at fault. The crash report doesn’t imply texting & driving or being under the influence, but he would have killed someone in a smaller vehicle. I have sympathy on a basic human level, but he earned a Darwin award that also feels like karma, considering the gross pattern of allegations about taking peoples’ money. The outpouring of thoughts should be for the hypothetical driver in the smaller vehicle he would have killed.

Ben Johnson comes across as one of the least classy head coaches in the NFL right now. The quick, dismissive handshake with Matt LaFleur after the game felt petty and immature, and then yelling “Fuck the Packers” in the locker room celebration just sealed it. I have no respect for that kind of behavior from someone leading an NFL team—it’s not the standard of professionalism and sportsmanship you expect from a head coach.

There’s going to be an eventual brain drain of the Bears coaching staff. They’re all doing remarkable jobs. Declan Doyle will eventually get a job elsewhere to call plays. Al Harris could be a top DC candidate. But the best part is that our offensive and defensive play caller are going to stay here for a while. Ben is the head coach (not leaving). Dennis Allen likely won’t be hired to be HC anywhere no matter how much success he has here. Nobody gets 3 HC stints. Bears are uniquely positioned for some great success for a while

When they leave, everything else follows, jobs, schools, grocery stores, stability. Chicago already proved this. Boeing, McDonald’s, Caterpillar, Citadel, nearly 70k jobs, all gone. Now they’re facing billion-dollar deficits, half empty schools and neighborhoods without grocery stores. I saw someone who lived in a rent-controlled apartment in California put it perfectly, he said his landlord could no longer afford maintenance so the pool was filled with dirt, the floors had soft spots, and the foundation ended up cracking. That’s what overregulation does, it destroys quality. People who voted for this will eventually feel the pain but they won’t blame the policies or the politicians, they’ll blame the rich for leaving. This conversation is always difficult because most people simply don’t understand market dynamics or incentives. In a free society, people act in their own self-interest. If you remove profit and reward dependency, productivity dies and the city with it. If you think things are expensive now, just wait until they’re “free.”
