My first company almost died three times. Once we had 8 weeks of cash. Each time, the instinct was to pivot everything. What saved us: pivot your strategy, not your vision. Know which parts to protect and which to throw overboard.

At AMD in 1992, I designed chips that had to work perfectly the first time. No patches, no updates, no second chances. That discipline still shapes how I think about sales outreach today. Every touchpoint matters because you rarely get another shot.

@ajinkyaaar I was 9 to 5 but 100% commission sales (mortgage & real estate) so basically a soloprenuer

I quadrupled my income the year I stopped trying to get better at my work I had spent years trying to get better at my craft, thinking the work would speak for itself It doesn’t. The work itself won’t speak unless you do. I got rich when I focused all my effort on becoming a better communicator online.

I used to think that @warikoo was over analysing when he used to point out that all the hate comments and emails that he receives after 3am are mostly sent by folks who are either depressed or suffering from something in their life. I used to think nahh, it's not that straightforward. But now, I'm able to understand that. When I went through the profiles of some of the hateful comments that I received on my posts, I noticed that most of these folks are struggling in their career. Interestingly, the people who gave counter argument in a polite manner are one of the best in their fields. A gentle reminder to not engage in online banter after midnight.

certain founders seem to pull clients from thin air there's nothing flashy about what they post. no viral moments, no massive following, nothing you'd call a strategy from the outside. but they're always talking to someone. calls on the calendar every week. generating revenue from Twitter like it's clockwork. i convinced myself they had something i didn't. some authority "hack" that made people reach out without being pushed. so i went and studied what they were posting. matched their formats. rewrote my hooks to sound more like theirs. posted at the same clip. engagement started climbing. felt like i was getting somewhere. months in and yet still zero calls booked. another month, better numbers - still nothing converting. eventually stopped looking at the content and started watching what they did around it. they replied to every comment. DMed the people who engaged more than once. came back two or three days later when someone went quiet. none of it was complicated. just work i wasn't doing. the content was getting attention. they were the ones turning that attention into actual conversations. two separate jobs i'd spent months pretending were one.

@danmartell i always ask my clients during the discovery call - what their north star metric is. if they aren't sure, we define it for them (with their permission). if you don't have a goal, you're just shooting in the dark. works sometimes, fails most times.

When you hire someone, define what success looks like by day 14. Follower growth. Revenue target. Name the outcome. If they don't hit it, they're not your person. That's a standard. Not cruelty.
