The immediate past INEC chair was rewarded with an ambassadorial posting. Hardened criminals were pardoned. Opposition leaders jailed. Dubious electoral laws signed. Opposition parties put in distress. Loans taken indiscriminately. Subsidies withdrawn. These guys are not human.

People are using Palmer not playing UCL football as a reason for him to be not Top 10. My friends, the fact that he didn't play UCL football is the only reason he's not winning the award tonight.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu@officialABAT

With effect from midnight today, the State of Emergency in Rivers State is hereby lifted. Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Nma Odu, and the State House of Assembly will resume their constitutional duties from September 18, 2025. The Nigerian judiciary is the biggest disgrace, as this administration is presently constituted. A state of emergency was proclaimed 6 months ago, and people went to court to challenge the legality of such, but the judiciary is yet to hear these cases. So now, when they decide to hear it they may say it has been overtaken by events. We cannot continue to run our country like this in this form of lawlessness. It doesn't just make any sense. For the past 6 months, there was no time we heard of any bomb blast or mass killings, or terrorists senselessly taking innocent lives in Rivers State. Yet, in places where we have seen loss of lives in hundreds, no State of emergency was declared. I know some people might be excited but this is not how a constitutional democracy ought to be run. Especially by those who claimed they fought for democracy, who today are the ones bastadizing the tenets of democracy. It is such a big shame. There is nothing to be happy or smile about with what is going on presently in Rivers State. That a democratically elected Government was suspended, and an unelected person was put in charge is beyond appalling. This same person went ahead to conduct an LGA election, which was the same election Wike went to court for to say it wasn't done the right way initially. The same thing Wike argued on at the Supreme Court was exactly what the appointed sole administrator did. We say we are practising democracy? It is just a shame. Honestly, people of good conscience must speak up, unite against these people who are hellbent on bastadizing our democratic values in a bid to further selfish and personal gains. The truth is, this blatant rape of our democratic institutions may favour you today, but what about tomorrow? You know what they say about power being transient! Nothing will make Tinubu remain in power forever. What you encourage today, may be used against you tomorrow. It might equally be your state or someone you root for.

Commentaries are being submitted regarding this civil suit, while Lawyers have taken sides, either for or against the cause of action (if truly a realistic one), Non-lawyers find the prevalent arguments around this suit intriguing and amusing. Laws are meant to be tested, more so, laws are about exploring the grey areas in a bid to enrich and give credence to the legal jurisprudence. This civil suit, bothering on fundamental rights, is one of many intentional and daring moves to test our laws; and while we hold our different views on it (as it should be, as Lawyers), it is wise to anticipate the Court's mindset on the issue before it. We look forward to an interesting time, as this matter unfolds.

I have now sued Sanwo-Olu for blocking me on Twitter. I asked the court to compel him to unblock and apologize to me. Truly, I have gone through mental stress and trauma over this matter but I will not ask for damages so I won’t be seen as a golddiger. Just unblock me.
