It’s pretty funny watching all the anti-Trumpers come to the realization that Trump is not “closing” the strait, he is securing it. The US Navy are running grid patterns de-mining the strait and blockading Iranian ports, making it safe for commercial shipping. The US doesn't want ANY Iranian ship capable of dropping a mine moving. It’s really not complicated.

If they had sabotaged them, it could have caused serious issues with either the gas lines or the internet, among other things. The US did not ask the UK to get involved and conduct air strikes or any other form of offensive maneuvers. It was a simple request. Go defend the water way that provides you a majority of your natural resources.
