@AwokeSolom56409 @QualityQuadry The rule specifically states "leave the grounds" and not "leave the field". In other places, the rule states "leave the field". There is no assumption that the previous statement can be interpreted to mean the field. The authors of the rule knew what they were doing. CAF was wrong

Chelle is speaking as a tactician, not a fan. 🧠 In professional football, the moment you walk off, you hand the keys to the lawyers and committees. Senegal won the battle on the pitch, but they might have lost the war the second they stepped over that touchline. Rules are cold, but they keep the game from turning into chaos. 🇳🇬⚽️

🚨 Eric Chelle on CAF verdict against Senegal 🇸🇳. 🗣"The rule is simple: any team that leaves the field without a valid reason is declared the loser. "This is not an opinion but a law. "In their place, I would have stayed because the fighting spirit demands fight until the end."

There are a number of points I would like to make on this CAF Appeals Committee ruling. First, let’s clear the air on this Senegal leaving the pitch for 15 minutes argument. There is nothing in the CAF Afcon Regulations that specifically state how much time a team may be off the pitch for them to forfeit the game. Second, there is nothing in the IFAB Laws of the Game addressing a team walking off and/abandoning a game. With those pieces of housekeeping done, let’s look at the actual regulations. And I will focus on Art 82 as it is the main crux of the issue. Art 84 is simply the sanction for violation. ARTICLE 82 If, for any reason whatsoever, a team withdraws from the competition or does not report for a match, or refuses to play or LEAVES THE GROUND before the regular end of the match without the authorisation of the referee, it shall be considered looser and shall be eliminated for good from the current competition. The same shall apply for the teams previously disqualified by decision of CAF. There are two offenses here that Senegal MAY have committed. The first is “refusing to play” the second is “leaves the ground” REFUSING TO PLAY It could be argued by the language of the Regulation that that does not apply to Senegal because by starting and playing the game, they did not “refuse to play”. Looking at the chronology of the wording, it starts with - withdraws from the competition - does not report for a match - refuses to play - leaves the ground The progression is clear: - not appearing for the competition - appearing but not showing up to play - showing up but refusing to play - and then leaving after If we go by the letter and progression there, then we can say that the only one that applies to Senegal is the last one. If the language had been “refuses to continue play”, with the operative word there being “continue” that might present a stronger case. But this might just be me splitting hairs. Now to the “leaves the ground” part. There are 16 mentions of “field” or “field of play” in these AFCON Regulations in reference to the pitch. Here are two examples: ART 16.20.2 The match is restarted with the same players on the FIELD and with the same substitutes available when the match was interrupted; ART 42.3 A player expelled from the FIELD by the referee is automatically suspended for the following match in the framework of the same competition, without prejudice to other sanctions that might be imposed upon him subsequently. Mentions of ground always refer to the venue, not the pitch. This distinction was clearly not accidental. Senegal may have left the field, but they did not leave the ground. So if we follow that argument, then we can see that there would have been no reason for the game to be abandoned as Senegal did not leave the ground. Only the field. Clear distinction Finally, we go to the outcome of the game and the authority of the referee to determine the result LAW 5 The decisions of the referee regarding facts connected with play, including whether or not a goal is scored and the result of the match, are final. The decisions of the referee, and all other match officials, must always be respected. “The referee may not change a restart decision on realising that it is incorrect or on the advice of another match official IF PLAY HAS RESTARTED or if play has restarted or the referee has signalled the end of the first or second half (including extra time) and left the field of play or abandoned the match. Clearly, even if we agree that the referee made a mistake in not abandoning the game, the fact that they completed the second half, and played two additional periods of extra time before coming to a result, precludes anything else. The referee restarted the game, it was played to a conclusion and there was a result. Senegal won. Morocco lost. C’est finis QED

BREAKING: While the world watches the Strait of Hormuz, someone is systematically destroying Russia’s energy fleet in the Mediterranean. And nobody is connecting the two wars happening in the same ocean. On Tuesday March 3 at approximately 4:00 a.m. local time, the Russian LNG tanker Arctic Metagaz exploded between Malta and Libya. The Libyan port authority confirmed the vessel experienced “sudden explosions followed by a massive fire, which ultimately led to its complete sinking.” The wreckage occurred approximately 130 nautical miles north of the port of Sirte, within the Libyan search and rescue zone. All 30 crew members escaped in a lifeboat and were rescued. Malta’s Armed Forces confirmed they received the distress message and geolocated the vessel. The Arctic Metagaz was carrying liquefied natural gas loaded from Russia’s Arctic LNG 2 facility, departing Murmansk on February 24. She was headed for Port Said and ultimately China. She had deactivated her AIS transponder for approximately 300 kilometers before the incident, running what the industry calls a “gray route” to evade sanctions enforcement. The vessel was under US, UK, and EU sanctions since August 2024. She had previously operated under the flags of Palau, Curacao, and Saint Maarten, all confirmed false by authorities. Her commercial managers were listed in India. Maritime security firm EOS Risk Group assessed the cause as a likely drone strike. Greek media cited multiple sources describing naval drones and a series of explosions. Reuters reported Ukraine was suspected of the operation. No one has claimed responsibility. OilPrice.com reported this may be the first known instance of an LNG carrier being destroyed in a conflict-related attack. This was not an isolated incident. In December 2025, Ukraine’s SBU claimed its first Mediterranean operation: aerial drones from hexacopters struck the shadow fleet tanker Qendil southwest of Crete, more than 2,000 kilometers from Ukrainian territory. The SBU called it “an unprecedented special operation” conducted by its Alpha unit. The Qendil sustained critical damage. On January 22, the French Navy seized the shadow fleet tanker Grinch between Spain and Morocco, sailing from Murmansk under a false Comoros flag. Macron personally announced the operation. Germany denied the tanker Tavian entry to Baltic waters. The US seized seven sanctioned tankers since December. On February 28, the same day Operation Epic Fury began against Iran, Belgian special forces rappelled onto the shadow fleet tanker Ethera in the North Sea, supported by the French Navy. The vessel was sailing under a false Guinea flag. Three days later, the Arctic Metagaz exploded and sank in the Mediterranean. Russia operates a shadow fleet of over 400 vessels to evade sanctions. Western nations have sanctioned 640 individual ships. The campaign has escalated from paper sanctions to physical seizures to what increasingly appears to be kinetic destruction. The Mediterranean is now a theater of covert naval warfare against Russian energy exports, running simultaneously with the overt naval war against Iran in the Persian Gulf. Two wars. Two energy powers. One ocean connecting them. The age of safe maritime commerce is over. open.substack.com/pub/shanakaans…

For those who are you too young to remember, one of the things that obstructed the fight against Insurgency is that when the Nigerian army started its crackdown, Muslims/clerics/governors rose up & said they were killing their brothers. Has a Muslim who has sinned suddenly stopped being a Muslim? Who has given you the power to make that decision? A lot of you here are terrorist sympathisers and we have seen you say all sorts of unspeakable things, does that also strip you of your religious identity? It is ironic that those who denounce Islam are called Apostates and are still judged by Islamic standards (even when they clearly say they are not Muslim. Look at what happened to Mubarak Bala) , meanwhile, those who are Muslims and killing in the name of Allah, are conveniently cast out online. All of this deflection means that the sentiments you think you are trying to correct will only grow. You are constantly trying to deflect and refuse to look inward, how can you ever correct what you have refused to acknowledge?

Muslims Connect@muslimsconnect0

Terrorists are not MUSLIMS — There's nothing like Islamic Terrorists or Muslim Terrorists. There's difference between a Person Claims to be a Muslim and a Muslim in actions. You can only be a Muslim by Action. Islam is to submit to Allāh with Tawhīd, to obey Him with complete compliance, and to dissociate from shirk and its people. And: “Whoever fulfils what Islam requires — by word, belief, and action — is a true Muslim.” Islam doesn't depend on Tribes, Dressings Or names. It is on Actions. A person can bear a Muslim name, put on Hijab and Label herself a Muslim but not a Muslim in actions is against Islam. Terrorism — that is vehemently condemned in the Qur'an and Sunnah and the perpetrators are mutilated and killed — shows Terrorism is far away from Islam. These Criminals have no apology or soft spot for Muslims. Survival of Bandits claimed these Bandits never pray nor perform any Islamic activities. Prof. Alaro related how an Imam was kidnapped by them; they requested money, he claimed he didn't have. They pressed him, asking what he had or knew. He said he knows the Qur'an. They asked him to go to the front and recite the Qur'an he knew. He recited it and was shot at the forehead immediately after reciting it. Are these the people you call Muslims? They're only after Resources and Money. They and their sponsors just hide under Religion agenda. The non Muslims deliberately and mischievously wobble us together out of Mischief to paint us in bad light because they're Hausa. They know they're not doing what's in our religion. Muslims should not copy them. Terrorist are Terrorists. There's nothing like Islamic Terrorists or Muslim Terrorists. Even if they falsely claim they're fighting for Islam for their devil.

The reason why some Arewa people are angry about The Herd movie is not because we are denying the reality of banditry, far from it. It is about the dangerous consequences of profiling an entire ethnic group and region that has already suffered immensely from years of insecurity. I watched the teaser on @NetflixNaija, and even though I haven’t watched the full movie yet, the one clear problem that stands out is stereotyping. In the teaser, Fulani herders are shown crossing the road with their cattle, while a newlywed couple inside a car and other travellers drive by, then suddenly the herdsmen pull out guns, start shooting indiscriminately and kidnap everyone. This single scene paints a picture that is actually facile as it is dangerously inaccurate. The truth is this, it is true and verifiable that some of the bandits terrorizing innocent people and our communities are Fulani. We have consistently and openly acknowledged that, called them out, condemned their atrocities and demanded that authorities deal with them mercilessly. Yet the overwhelming majority of Fulani herders are innocent and also among the very victims that have suffered the most from these terrorists. Many have lost their cattle, their livelihoods and their families. So producing a movie to profile them all as armed kidnappers only reinforces a harmful stereotype that fuels suspicion, resentment and even violence against innocent people. Film and media carry immense influence, they shape global perceptions and frame narratives, especially about communities that are poorly understood outside their regions. Instead of the producers of The Herd helping the world understand the complexity of Nigeria’s insecurity, the movie falls into the trap of blanket judgment. When such an international movie, portrays a one-dimensional story, millions of viewers around the world walk away believing that every Fulani herder is a terrorist and that is how stigma is created. That is how innocent people become targets of discrimination and harassment. Before producing a film that touches on such a sensitive and complex national issue, the producers should have done intensive field work by engaging stakeholders, security experts, victims, researchers and even representatives of pastoralist groups to help them capture the full picture of the situation. I believe @AliNuhu’s Nigerian Film Corporation should have given proper guidance to prevent such damaging portrayals. In the end, all we are saying is simple, tell the story. Condemn the criminals. Call out the terrorists. But do not cast a shadow of suspicion over millions of innocent herders who have nothing to do with these atrocities. Our country is dealing with a complex security challenge and the last thing we need is media content that deepens stereotypes and fuels more division. The producers should have known better.
