As we begin the 65th anniversary of our nation’s independence, I had the honour of representing my principal, Governor @LuckyAiyedatiwa, at the special Juma’at service held at the Akure Central Mosque today.

@adeyanjudeji Interestingly, the ordinary Nigerian, who is apolitical doesn't care so much about local elections. It gets worse with off-cycle elections. You need a solid structure, sometimes with state backing, and/or a popular candidate with capacity to mobilize to win by-elections.

Today, May 27, is designated Children’s Day in Nigeria. As I ponder over the significance of this day, the admonition of the great Chilean Poet and Nobel laureate, Lucila Godoy Alcayaga, (pseudonym, Gabriela Mistral) in her famous poem, His Name is TODAY; flashed through my mind. I reproduce same below for the (renewed) attention of my country’s nay, my continent’s elected, elites and elders.. “We are guilty of many errors and many faults, but our worst crime is abandoning the children, neglecting the fountain of life. Many of the things we need can wait. The child cannot. Right now is the time his bones are being formed, his blood is being made, and his senses are being developed. To him we cannot answer ‘Tomorrow,’ his name is TODAY”. Happy #ChildrensDay

@nard_nigeria @pastorpoju While @pastorpoju may have underestimated the average cost of medical training in Nigeria, your analysis is also very incorrect. No Nigerian university trains med. doctors for USD51k (₦81m). His points are clearly understood - Our system isn't as finished as we make it seem.

Dear @pastorpoju, With due respect, your recent comments reflect a misunderstanding of the realities surrounding medical education and the healthcare system in Nigeria. Contrary to your claim, no medical doctor is trained on N500,000. A peer-reviewed study by Osoba et al. (2021), published in the Pan African Medical Journal, estimates the cost of training a doctor in Nigeria to range between $21,000 and $51,000—this includes tuition, living expenses, and other associated costs. Despite this investment, the average Nigerian doctor earns about N250,000 monthly (roughly $170), a stark contrast to their counterparts in the U.S., where training costs around $275,000, and the average monthly salary is about $16,000 (₦24 million). For a Nigerian doctor to qualify and practice in the U.S., their family often spends over $10,000 to support the process. This is not about ingratitude—Nigerian doctors are among the most hardworking and resilient globally. While the health system is in a state of crisis, many citizens cannot afford medical tourism. It is easy for Pastors with access to tithes and offerings to seek care abroad, but their average Nigerian church member cannot. We urge you to speak truth to power and advocate for a better health system; Nigeria currently ranks 142nd out of 195 globally. As a final note, it may be worth considering the Apostles’ model—focusing on prayer, fasting, and the Word—rather than “serving tables.” Wishing you a reflective and blessed Easter.

Pastor Poju Oyemade has dropped another one for Obidients. P.S They can't cancel Pastor Poju Nigeria is a treasure Land. Most of Nigerians who studied Medicine in Nigeria are living large in US, while their counterpart in the same US are still paying the student loan even after 20years. TAKE A LISTEN!!!

The news of the demise of Hon. Temitayo Oluseye Oluwatuyi, popularly called Tuykana, came to me as a rude shock. Hon. Oluwatuyi, my dear brother, who I used to call 'the homeboy', was an SSG with class, a rare breed of politician — very accommodating, calm, intelligent... 1/4

Dear Fellow Nigerians, As we celebrate this season of joy and togetherness, I extend my warmest Christmas greetings to you and your families on behalf of the entire team at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). This year, we achieved remarkable milestones, one of which stands out—the electrification of the vibrant Kuka-Mato community in Shendam Local Government Area, Plateau State, in collaboration with GVE Projects Ltd. Through the commissioning of a 313kWp solar photovoltaic mini-grid with 540kWh storage capacity, we have proudly provided reliable electricity to 3,689 potential end users. This transformative project powers 2,987 households, 648 commercial users, 24 productive users, 4 telecom anchor clients, 3 petrol stations, and 23 public institutions. Beyond lighting homes, it ignites opportunities for commerce, agro-processing, and improved public services. The Kuka-Mato community, known for its rich agrarian culture and entrepreneurial spirit, is a shining example of how clean energy can empower rural areas, enhance productivity, and elevate livelihoods. As we reflect on the year, let us be inspired by what is possible when we work together to build a brighter future for all. The REA remains committed to advancing rural electrification, driving sustainable development, and improving lives across Nigeria. May this festive season bring peace, happiness, and prosperity to all, especially the people of Kuka-Mato and communities like theirs nationwide. Together, we look forward to an even brighter 2025. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
