Our @golang load balancer at @render handles more than 150 billion HTTP requests a month across millions of services. The number of times we've wanted to rewrite it in Rust: zero. Go is the most underrated language in infrastructure. "Boring" is the ultimate feature.

I had an interesting discussion on designing a Google Photos. 🧵 One key requirement was to design was a service that can basically analyse the image, highlight the content of the image and allow anyone to search based on the them. My approach ↓

3. How would you handle search? Once the analysis is complete, we can store them in a columnar OLAP database like Clickhouse. It will essentially help us map entity -> array of imag_ids. Making our search lot more faster.

@SumitM_X I think like this. There should exist a table, watched. It has idempotent_id, user_id, series_id, season_id, episode_id, timestamp. So, whenever you start a series or episode changes., at every pause orwhen new episode starts, a network call is done to insert or update.

As a developer, have you asked yourself how Netflix resumes exactly where you stopped? Is it just local storage, or synced state across devices?
