The pathway for churches to make disciples: -/> Start ONE ON ONE reproducible disciple making. -/> Start SERMON BASED SMALL GROUPS all over your city. -/> Start TEACHING the word of God and PREACHING the gospel in Sunday gatherings in your region. #win #disciple #send

@lukedsimmons @alan_stoddard 2/2 I often fear that even the very best churches can be good at telling believers what we should be doing without actually showing them how.

🧵 of all of the tasks of ministry I love preaching the most. But above that must come disciple making. A pastor must make time on his calendar to meet up with at least two or three people for the sole purpose of turning them into disciples who can make disciples. Why?

@lukedsimmons @whshg No. And yes. The broader the definition for disciple making the easier it will be usually. It needs to be narrow. I would argue the content specific. But also the strategy. If the strategy is always large group, there will be large fruit results.

@lukedsimmons @whshg I am not reducing discipleship to mentoring. That’s a wrong read, which is easy to do on Twitter. I’m talking about a discipleship that is, “disciple making” in nature and ends up spiritually forming people with the goal of making disciples. a.co/d/03oebLCy

@whshg @alan_stoddard I love what you're after, but I think it's unhelpful to reduce discipleship to mentoring. I don't think every disciple needs to personally "make a disciple," but rather every disciple needs to play a role in disciplemaking.

@lukedsimmons Hey brother, that’s not a combative question. I would not separate them in the way that my tweet may be conveyed. However, many preachers cannot make disciples. Most preachers can’t even disciple someone else in preaching. What do you think?

@alan_stoddard Not being combative… but why do you separate discipleship from preaching? Isn’t preaching part of discipleship?

If the pastor is not discipling, it won’t happen. Most pastors were never discipled themselves. Most pastors did not learn hours to make disciples in seminary. -> start slow. Take a year. Disciple someone who needs it and will use it.

The reason why we don’t have disciple making happening in a way that is reproducing is because we’re full of programs and schedules. Those things are needed. These are church growth things. They are needed. But church growth is the enemy of disciple making.

This is hilarious, but seriously I’m praying for Tiger Woods to become a Christian. He could go down as the best golfer in human history and beyond the wrong side of eternity. The fruit of his life is revealing his emptiness. I pray the Lord gets a hold of him and converts him.

This guy is the biggest charlatan. He will make any excuse so that he can count more money. Yeah, he said he did not take a salary from the church. But his church made him famous. He built generational wealth because of the church. His brand of Christianity is not biblical.

Joel Osteen reveals it cost $100,000,000 to renovate Lakewood Church “My dad was taught that to be holy or a Christian, you need to be poor and think defeated. That was years ago, but it’s that mindset. I have a different mindset. It cost $100M to renovate this facility. I can’t do that with a mindset that we’re not supposed to have anything”

3 more professions of faith today going door to door on the streets. 6 in two days. And so much more. You never know how lost people are until you get among them.

There are obviously some places where it’s not either allowed or not advisable. There are other places where it’s obvious you should go door by door and just meet people and see where they are with God. People are waiting. Some people will never reach heaven unless we go!

🧵 I went door to door today with a team from International Commission. They are serving a mission trip to our Jerusalem (Acts 1:8) Cresson, Texas. We saw three people receive Jesus Christ as Savior. Whoever said door to door doesn’t work, was wrong.

Joshua called @crosspointega wanting to talk to a pastor about baptism. I told the staff person I would make the call. Over the phone I led Joshua to pray to receive Christ! Will baptize him Easter Sunday. He now wants me to talk to his brother. Pray for him.

@DrFrankTurek I like the NET. It’s a great more literal option than the NLT. The translation notes are amazing. The readability is appetizing.
