@markmartin @ripjetson9 I look at the video of Cody and see a few areas that can be improved but ultimately everything worked well & as it should have. Yes his FHR device cracked, his helmet EPS compressed & his steering wheel bent but that’s a good thing and what it all is designed to do.

Wow! @ripjetson9 spitting knowledge here. Definitely worth the read.

As far as the car I can’t really comment. I seen the original chassis’ and they all looked pretty stiff to me. The areas where all the bulkhead sections met up looked way overbuilt, almost agricultural My opinion (and i have absolutely nothing to back this up) is we see more concussions and spine/neck injuries these days I don’t know if head restraints on the seat causes concussions. Seems sus to me. Ok great we kept the head from moving but the brain still slams the skull. So the foam needs to create a suitable deceleration zone Same with containment seats. I remember when cars had shitty seats and the driver would be halfway out of the car after a crash, but they were ok. With seats keeping ur body absolutely in place and vertical the spine/neck appears to take the blows in a more straight up and down motion. The body can no longer snake side to side to dissipate energy I also see alot of seat belt issues. The lap belt is to hold you in the car. The shoulder harness is to keep your body from moving forward. If the harnesses are mounted too far below the shoulders they compress the spine. The harder you pull the harness down the more it tries to squish your spine. So harness height is critical in my opinion I look at alot of this stuff and honestly i don’t know whats right. Tubing is my specialty so i keep most my opinions to that area How the body absorbs impacts is a whole different field. I would probably build models. Maybe 3d printed skeletons in ballistic gel bodies to study impacts I will tell you this, some of the smartest people i know do not possess degrees. Arrogance and pride stops alot of progress and the average joe opinion is usually swept under the rug. And big business hates competition Stay safe y’all ✌🏼😘

@markmartin @ripjetson9 Get your safety equipment checked after a hard crash and replace it if needed. We won’t stop improving safety and I’m glad Cody is ok!

@markmartin @ripjetson9 Spot on as always Flea! The head and neck device needs to allow your head to travel with the torso. If you engage the tether too quickly because it’s too short, yeah your head stops but your brain smashes your skull and you get a concussion that way.

@markmartin @ripjetson9 Also make sure you have a properly fitted helmet, a long enough RS headrest & or interior net so you don’t get outside of it in an impact along with a seat insert and proper headrest foam!!

@markmartin @ripjetson9 Belt angle is one of the most common issues I see. Make sure the belts are properly mounted and between a 0 & -20 degree angle. Belts also need to be tight, in a frontal impact you can fit a football behind your back!
