UPDATE: Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) Latest incident updates from Malmesbury and the Garden Route show ongoing vaccinations, farm inspections and monitoring as state veterinarians work closely with farmers to contain the disease and protect the province’s livestock sector.

100,000 doses of foot-and-mouth vaccine have arrived at Cape Town International Airport. These will be distributed across the West Coast, Cape Winelands and Garden Route. 47,700 animals have already been vaccinated as we push to protect the provincial herd.

We mourn the passing of Soli Philander, a beloved actor, comedian and proud son of the Western Cape. Soli had a rare gift for capturing the humour and heart of our communities. His voice, laughter and contribution to the arts were felt deeply and he will be sorely missed.💙
